Gang,

Right now, I'm at The Hotel Puerta del Sol, in Barranquilla, in the business center checking up on my software business.  I thought I would post a little 'something...something'.

I've been here, at this 5 Star Hotel, for the past 2 days now.

Some of you are wondering if I'm experiencing any kind of physical or mental drama from being in a different country.

The answer is an astounding NO!!

I can not possibly be shaken by being in another country; after going through 14 foster homes from the age of 4 to 17.  I've adapted to alot harsher situations than being in a foriegn country.  I've felt no withdrawal of any kind whatsoever.

Overall, though, I'm getting along just great.  I have my laptop talking for me, and my personal spanish teacher helping me along the way.

I was thinking about going over to Sams and Saundra's 'I love latins', but decided against it for a few reasons.  I don't have time to explain the details now.

All I can say, about Barranquilla, is that it is the most beautiful city, out of all the ones I've been to so far, that I have ever seen.

I'm now experiencing what everyone seems to only be talking about.

Today, and I'm kind of embarrassed to say this(laughing), I got my first haircut in Colombia.  Seriously, once every two weeks I normally cut my own hair, being that I live in Joplin, Missouri and there are absolutely no african american barbers in Joplin(NONE....), I thought I would give it a whirlwind of a try. I've been cutting my own hair for about 14 years now using some very unorthadox(spelling?) hair cutting strategies(laughing)

D*amnnnnn....these 'brothas and sistas' did a better job on my head than I could do myself, and I do a good job!

I said to myself, "these people know how to cut my grain of hair.  They can cut a 'brothas hair' like like all get-out!".  Dang, cut it again...cut again(laughing)....

I think I will try that barber again, before I leave for my next town. She's good real good; and absolutely beautiful to boot.  Actually, her brother cut my hair and she trimmed the hell out it(laughing).  While she was trimming, he was cutting someone elses hair.  I found it quite amazing how they worked as a team.

The haircut was expensive, according to my spanish teacher; but I was in a top notch facility.

I found out that her and her brother was running the whole barber shop and was doing well, according to the economics of Colombia.  It pays to have your own business!

Oh, before I forget, the women are astounding.  And that is the only thing I have to say; astounding...astounding...astounding; can I say that again?....astoun..

Gotta run...I'm going outside for a dip in the pool.  It feels like it's about 70 degrees or so.

I'll give you more, but this is just a little something to let you guys know that I haven't forgotten about you.

Peace....

You just posted all this to make us jealous. It worked.

Ha ha, "no african american barbers in Joplin"  I should say not, I don't think the whole state has 20 african american RESIDENTS if you leave out St. Louis and Kansas City. (I used to live there, remember?)......sounds like you're haveing a great time!

I was at the Hotel Porta del Sol last February. I agree that
Barranquilla is a beautiful and safe city. The women there are truly "astounding". I was there again last week to visit a girl I met there.  But Cartegena is an even more beautiful city (in my opinion), and is also safe. It is a 1.5 hour drive from Barranquilla.

Have fun in BQ
