Many times on this forum I have recomended the "Texas No Connect" calling card as a good deal. Alas, they seem to have changed their policies and I can no longer recomend them.

I've bought several $5.00 cards and they have always given me 51 minutes to Colombia. Recently I bought a $10.00 card. At the start of my call the recording said "You have 100 minutes" (gee, I would think I have 51*2=102, oh well, "rounding error", OK, I can live with it). So: "Hello, may I speak to 'R'?"--"Sorry, she's not here, can you call again tomorrow?"---"OK, sure. Thanks"---whole call was only 10 or 15 seconds.

So, I'll call 'S'---and the recording says "You have 96 minutes" (gee, why don't I have 99?). Well, she was in and we talked 55 minutes (per my cell phone time timer). Next day I try to call 'R' again and the recording says "You have 22 minutes" (22???) and right after I enter the PIN I'm cut off, so can't get through.

So, I called their customer service number and they swore on their mother's grave that a $10.00 card only gives 72 minutes and a $5.00 gives 36 minutes. They refused to make the card have the time I was entitled to/had paid for. They even "reviewed" my card and said "4 minutes to R's number yesterday, 58 minutes to S's number yesterday, and 4 minutes to R's number about 5 minutes ago. I said "wait, that last call didn't go through at all, and you've got the minutes wrong on the other two"...the clerk said "let me check"---she came back on a minute of two later and said "that number works fine, and yes you do have to pay even when their answering machine picks up" Huh? What answering machine? They don't have an answering machine. "Sir, I just called and left a message on their answering machine" What kind of message? "Hey, some fool is trying to call you"? I've been calling that number for a year and a half and they don't HAVE an answering machine. "Well, sir, I can't make any adjustment for you. Goodbye".

Opps, got busy at work and I didn't have time to call anymore that day anyway.

Next day, I tried to call R again and the recording said "You have 7 CENTS remaing, not enough to complete this call"---So now I'm really PO'd and call customer service again. They said "Yes sir, 7 cents is all you have. This morning our computer assesed you the 'monthly maintenance fee'. MONTHLY fee? I only first used the card two days ago. "Well, sir, the back of our card does say "we reserve the right to change the terms and prices at any time, without notice".

End of rant, but I'm sure never buying that card again and am advising my friends not to buy it either.

if they have an email address we could send them an email and once they get a few im sure theyll look into it. in my experience what happens is that thy cater to the hispanic community and they believe that they either dont understand whats happening or wont complain. maybe im wrong!!...

Michael,
My wife uses the Colombianita card. For $20 you get 7+ hours talk time, minus the connection charge,$1.00 I think. My wife usually talks an hour when she calls,so the connection charge becomes minor.I have tried other calling cards and every time the call didnīt go through the connection charge was posted. Its frustrating hearing your time diminish and you havenīt even got through.Colombianita has good telephone lines. Some cards have awfull lines. You can usually get through,a problem with other cards.
We buy them on line at phonecards-prepaid.com.

Thanks, Pete. I'm on my way to a store that stocks several different brands. I'll look for that one. Best one I have ever had was "Hello Colombia" but haven't been able to find one in a long time.
