well i made it back in one piece. every flight i was on, was late, and i almost gave up and went home, stupid DELTA airlines. i had a wonderful time with my girlfriend, and her family. security at the airports was a nightmare, and so were the lines. if you are traveling soon, make sure you have plenty of time to get through customs, and connectiong flights.on one flight, i had four hours till my next flight, and i only made it by 10 minutes. you just never know. difference between bogota and cali.... bogota,  a much nicer city than cali. the women dress more business like and consertive(sp) but i think that cali might have a few more better looking women. cali women will marry you in three days, where the women in bogota are a little more likely to marry you in three months. weather... bogota... cold and windy, sometimes rainy. cali... hot and smogy, bring shorts!!!!!!!  bigest problem..... not enough time spent with my girlfriend.. if you have the time, two weeks would be plenty of time to get to know her personality. best tip, know some spanish, it will go a long way!!!!!! a pocket translator also is very helpful.  bigest turnoff..... so many stupid, dorky, weird gringos looking like a kid in a candy store. a lot of them looking for sex, or just haveing fun dating so many women, that they will never pick a girl and get seroius.

happy new year to all!!!!!!

Careful Mudd, saying things like this, will get you in trouble around here...lol! Could you tell the board about things to do & see in Bogota with a lady. Sorry to hear about you travel troubles. Gents with current security issues at the airports, it would be wise to arrive earlier & leave later, if your using Miami as your connection point.

Thanks Mudd...

I am a salsa dancer, Spanish speaker and I love a lot about latin culture and I get along with people pretty well...yet I am a typical, white guy - emigree from Eastern Europe. I am 39 years old. Thus, the questions. They are blunt I really hope I am not hurting anybody on this board. I would like to meet white/slight morenas ... the girls, you would meet in Spain normally. Second, I am interested in a girl who would be either educated or, at least aspire to be educated, ambitious. Do you think are there any chances for that? And third...you here various voices about Colombia girls/Colombia people...that they are not trustworthy, mob, that they are greedy about money, simplistic...Finally, even though I like latin culture...I am not sure how does it work in a long term relationship...different languages, different families etc. ...What do you think about it? I am trying to do my homework...before going there...

The various voices you hear about Colombian girls/Colombian people are in my opinion dead wrong.  Colombian-Americans along with Cuban-American have the highest percentage of Latin/Hispanic college/universtiy graduates in the U.S.  We as Colombians take higher eduacation very seriously. Greedy about money, I believe its all the same percentage for all people. Simplistic---I think not. For Colombia to produce many diffrent kinds of programs and artists (Betty la Fea, Shakira, Carlos Vives, Charlie Zaa, Pedro el Escamoso, Eco Moda, Juanes, Aterciopelados, Por Que Diablos, and not to mention doctor Patarroyo(malaria vaccine founder)during its terrible civil war is beyond imagination. So Mr.Panol 111(no offense given) I suggest you investigate the roots of your information first. You mentioned Eastern European-hmmm, probably Slavic--maybe Czech, Bulgarian, Pole, Serb?--remember that Easern European is generally looked down at by Western and Northern Europe--so with this I hope I leave you a bit more wise.....Colman

Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate these words. I am Pole or ...Polack..Smiley)) Your statement adds clear facts to the table...I am in the process of learning...so forgive me if I said unpleasent things. My words were sort of a blunt statement...of what I know. I actually dated Colombian girl in New York (well, 10 years ago) she was very ambicious and education hungry person...she, however, told me a few times that she tried to stay away from some Colombian communities as they were what I mentioned before. But...the same is with Poles in New York...they often consider moving out of Polish district a a first step of proving themselves:)))

Thank you panol111 for responding, although I believe you when you stated that this Colombian girl saying she wanted to stay away from the "Colombian" community, I find this surprising.  Colombian tend to be a proud people. You know after Warsaw and Krakow, Chicago has the third or fourth largest Polish community in the world.  I went to some Polish festivals (Pulaski day and some festival in March(I think)and had a great time. I enjoyed the kliesabala(sp?), stuffed cabbage and those potatoe pancakes! with apple sauce and sour cream--love it! You know from what I have seen I think you will not have a hard time finding a good Latina. Polish people and Colombian/Latinos share some great traditions (family unity, eager for education, religious, and that jolt of pride that annouces itself when least expected--lol--anyway good luck--Colman

Hmmm. I guess since few days passed since that time you must be talking about Torun, for example. And from there you might have gone for a trip to one of the fifteen cities on the Baltic shore...for example Sopot or Gdansk or Krynica...I am actually from Gdansk.

well maybe that was it ...for some reason i was thinking teren or teron...it was an industrial type city . from there we went by taxi to a baltic city. i really liked the baltic city..i recall many shops and resturants...and a very long pier, lots of celebration going on and several people in their traditional dress...we had fun.

also recall going to a place were there was this long very high wall with some sort of mineral water flowing..they say that if you gothere the water has healing capabilities...do you know where i am talking about?

i almost married that polish girl. her family treated me very good, it was a party every night, feast, then lots of vodka...fond memories of poland.
