Keith,

Do not exclude Joe Arroyo de Barranquilla, Tito Nieves and Willie Colon de PR/NY, and Alquimia de Cali etc. etc.. I would love to be able to meet Jairo Varela eventually when I get back to Cali. He is the director and song writer for Grupo Niche. And he is known as the initiator of salsa on the pacific coast. If you get a chance to meet him, and talk a little bit, it would be a great opportunity.

Chao,
Aaron

Hi,

Ray Reitzle of 'International Lady' (intlady.com) can arrange for an ad to run in 'El Tiempo', which has a nationwide circulation in Colombia. He works through Juan Herran of the 'Circulo de Amigos' agency in Bogota who actually places the ad. While I don't think very much of Juan I think over time you might get a fair number of responses to such an ad. I do think highly of Ray, though, so if you contact him directly (ladylove@intlady.com) he'll tell it to you like it is.

As an aside I met my fiance through an ad that Ray placed for me in a number of agencies that he has relationships with. My fiance saw my ad and contacted me. That's another way to go.

My concern with running a national ad is that you might get so many replies from women all over the country that it might be tough to narrow your search. Plus you might get lots of letters from women who don't have email and contacting these women would be a very slow process.

When I was in Bogota recently I chatted with Charlie Gonzales, owner of Charlie's Place and father of Nelson of 'Latin American Introductions'. I got the impression that the agency might be willing to run an ad for you but that they're concerned with getting an overwhelming response to your ad and not being able to process all of the responses very quickly. This is what happened to Juan when he ran my ad. You might be thinking that you don't need an agency to screen responses but then you should consider if you want to open yourself up for direct contact to a large number of women you know nothing about.

Also, Ray's address service and a number of others out there have enough Latin women registered that I'm not sure I see the benefit of running your own ad. For the $175 that Ray charges you could probably write to enough women to find a suitable wife.

Just my two cents on the subject.

intlady.com/newspaper_ad.html tells you about his service.

Sol

p.s. I don't have any financial connection with Ray (other than that I've paid him $$ to connect me with enough women to find my future wife!)

Latin-Internet is happy to place ads for their clients in the Cali paper and then screen the responses. J.R. the owner encourages it. I'm not sure an add placed in El Tiempo in Bogota would reach nationwide. They publish regional editions, one for Cali, one for the Atlantic coast etc. They  may contain just local want ads, can't remember.
