... in response to The next stage, posted by cdrab on Oct 21, 2001Clint,
I echo much of what you say and feel. Although I've never been married before I do echo the feelings of fear, excitement, and of starting anew. I agree 100% with your statement, and echoed by a number of others on this board, that keeping her will be the hard part.
I also do want to offer my appreciation to this board for the assistance provided to me over this past year in navigating this whole process, from finding the right lady, to actually meeting her, to proposing to her. Most of all I want to thank this group for helping me to realize that this international dating scene is a real viable choice for a lot of guys.
In December my lady and I will be married, sometime in January I expect to be able to fly to Colombia (once again) to bring her here.
For me the next chapter is of newlywed married life. I invite you, Clint, and anyone else with a Colombian partner, to join me on the Yahoo community for mutual support and sharing of experiences. For me the planet-love list has been mainly about how to meet that special lady. I don't see a whole lot of interest here in a community of those already married or about-to-be. Yes, married guys post from time to time, but this group is really about the agencies, tours and letter writing, about the meeting and selection process, and about the pitfalls of this whole thing. And, most importantly, the community here adamantly protects its right to be anonymous, opinionated, loud, righteous, and some other things that don't foster the deeper support that some of us want- the kind of sharing that leaves us feeling open vulnerable.
Write me at s_lederman@nospam.com or better yet, see my post a few days back announcing the new list for more information.
