Hello everyone.

I just have not had any good luck in writing to Filipinas over the years.  I have been a member (okay, obviously not a very active one-smiles) of this board since 1998, and Ate Tess (how is chow-hound?) and others have been so very helpful and kind to me, over the years.
Thanks everybody!

I did have good luck with a beautiful Chinese lady here in Georgia, but her parents were racists who hated anything and everything not Han Chinese, and forbid her from marrying me.  She was beaten and abused and punished for her relationship with me.

I have witnessed first-hand many terrible things about some Chinese people, and some aspects of Chinese culture.

Of course, there is that old saying, that there is no bad weather, just different types of good weather. (A reward of one dollar will be paid to anyone who can tell me what movie that is from.  I am going crazy trying to remember.  It's not from Jermiah Johnson-I just watched that today on Turner South.)

Well, I'm still interested in the Philippines and Filipinas, because I have met some really nice Filipina ladies here in the States.  And they were happily married.  But what I don't like is what appears, in my opinion, to be a trend among young Filipinas of being so materialistic and, to be blunt, ruthless.

Anyway, I was thinking about going to the Philippines to study or work.

I just wanted to see what y'all think about this.  There is this company,(http://www.cleverlearn.com/en/index.jsp), that needs a writer to help create videos to assist with folks learning english.

The job is in Cebu City, and pays $1,000 USD a month.

I was thinking that this might be a nice way to meet some geniunely nice Filipina ladies.

I was told this about housing-"Housing is up to you. Current foreigners are paying from US$150 to US$225. Most likely, you'll
pay a three-month move-in (1st, last month's rent plus a one-month deposit)".

Here is one question that I have not seen on this board-how about hot baths in the cities in the Philippines?  I have to take hot baths daily.  Could I buy a tub and place it in the shower, so that I could take a sit down bath?  Also, is the water hot enough there?

And, as for this job.  If y'all were free, White, and over 21, would y'all think about this job in Cebu?

Thanks in advance for any and all comments.  Merci beaucoup et salamat for reading my rant-smiles.

Kindest regards to all.

PS-Why did y'all ruin it for those of us who enjoyed Don's stories, aka "The Walker"?  There is some mean folks here.  smiles

... in response to $1,000 a month job in Cebu City for Amer..., posted by Matt on Nov 2, 2004

Hey Matt,

There are already about 40,000 Americans in Cebu.  I've heard thwat it is the most westernized city in the R.P. and it seemed that way when i was there.  I truly doubt that such a job exist but go for it if you wish.  The housing cost is probably realistic;  I know others there who live in really nice places for about those numbers but I also know others who pay "american" prices for "american" style homes.

You say you know Filipinas here.  Why not ask them for introductions?  Or even the guys on this board?

As for Don, stories are great but being manipulated isn't.  His "wife" actually chewed me out once for asking a question?  Just so someone can play a game at others expense!  He was trying to make fools of us all.  Good ridance.

Hi Bear.  Thank you for your thoughts.  Yea, that job sounds a little fishy to me too.  And if it was real, I was thinking too that I would get charged "american" prices for rent too.

As to knowing Filipinas here now, no, I really don't know any now.  Ate Tess who used to post here, helped me, but things didn't work out, and I have not emailed here in awhile.

And about Don the Walker, I was just trying to aggravate and joke with somebody about him-smiles-.  I can't believe that his wife would have chewed you out.  I got the idea that she was so full of grace, and that she was a major marketer of bull sperm.

Well, thanks for always being so nice.

I know if I had to do it all over again, I'd forgo my engineering, business, and writing careers and set my sights on jerking off bulls.

Matt I have found one simple truth amounst the golden honey colored beauties from the Philippines, they all know at least one if not a dozen ladies who want to meet and marry an American.  I personally know 5-6 (and bet with little effort I bet I can get that up to 10 or more) Filipinas who want to marry and American, 2-3 actually look very nice by both my wife and my standards (we argue alot on this topic).  I looked for a long time to find Filipinas already here, living in Houston, which has one of the worlds largest medical complexes - over a hundred hospitals of varying specialty.  You'd think that Filipinas would be everywhere but I couldn't find them.  Guess what.  The day my wife arrived I met 6 who lived here and had 3 more sitting in the pews at church on Sunday.  Now I see them everywhere including 3 churches that are mostly Filipinos and 2 night clubs.  If you know 2-3 Filipinas I bet you could have 3-10 to write so don't limit yourself to one ladies help get two or three to recommend introductions.  Ask anyone you know married to a Filipina, they'll give you names too.

Since Don was a fake, his "wifes" sudden anger at my question just shows he was a manipulator trying to stir up problems in an effort to "define" his "perfect" wife.  I totally fail for it at first, but snapped when Ray pointed out the impossibilities of his act.  His stories were good though, just too unbelievable.
