Hi,

I am looking for someone to translate an introduction letter and correspondence from English to Thai and back.  One or two of the agencies listed on this site claim to offer translations, but one of them took $15 and then I never heard from them after numerous e-mails.  I couldn't get the other site's order form to work.

Anyone have suggestions?  This is personal correspondence, not technical.  If anyone wants to make a few bucks doing this, I'd rather give it to you than an agency.

Thanks.

Why would you want to start up a correspondence with someone when there is no common language between you??? There must be some Thai ladies out there who speak some English.

When I met my wife I spoke more Japanese than she spoke English. And at that time, my Nihongo was limited to some basic pleasantries, ordering food, and finding the bathroom. It can be done, but I have to say the road wasn't necessarily a smooth one. Who said anything about this process was easy, though.

Hi Ray,

You are right, there are many Thai women with English skills.  Unfortunately, the skills are sometimes limited and there are times that I want to avoid any misunderstanding.  I can communicate with a woman with limited English skills, but I think it is important that some issues be completely understood.  I have found that even with filipinas, there can be miscommunication in English.

I have communicated in English for sometime with a Vietnamese woman and it works fine for routine e-mails and phone calls.  When we have complex issues to talk about I have the letters translated.  It works well.    Whoever I marry will improve her English while I learn some of her language:-)

Thanks,

Craig
