hi ray! i wanna ask you if which marriage certificate does the embassy requires when applying k-3 if ever my fiancee and i will have a civil wedding and then after a church wedding? Is it the first one or the last one? thanks for any help.

They will want the one that is registered with NSO, which should be the civil marriage certificate or the first one. When you marry in the church, they should give you a second marriage certificate but it won’t be registered with NSO since you are already married. We had a civil wedding and then a church wedding 2 days later and that’s what we did.

For the I-130 and I-129F petitions, you can use photocopies of a certified copy of the marriage cert from the Local Civil Registrar’s Office (LCRO). For the embassy interview for your K-3 visa, they will need the official NSO SECPA original.
