Here are some musings from a friend who has spent time in Vietnam and is now traveling in China. They are edited slightly at one place so as not to violate any posting rules and at another place an explanation is inserted for clarity.

I just haven't been having enough dates here in China, there are too many guys competing for women and they have money. Even the [deleted because we cannot discuss this business on PL] here are a waste of time. Maybe when I can speak Chinese better then I can fish in the local pond, but even then the demographics and the economics are not in our favor like they are in VN. Thank God for Saigon!
I had been aware of the demographics (the 1-child policy, where most people want a boy), but I wasn't sure how that affected the 20 to 30-year-old pool. It's not a total loss, Westerners do have some allure to the locals and whereas Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong are pretty well-off, there are still a lot of people who are getting by on $100 to $300 a month. However, I haven't seen the hunger from women like I have in VN [the author is speaking metaphorically here]; I think I've probably been spoiled. I am committed to improving my Chinese, for a variety of reasons. The Chinese girls are attractive, but the population density of attractive women is not as high as VN either. Their torsos are longer and not as sculpted as Saigon, which is Butt Heaven. However, I have been quite surprised that a number of women actually have real breasts, which I have missed in VN. My experiences here haven't turned me off by any means, in fact I may come back for language school.
