Hi everyone!

Well, we are settled in here in Surigao and we have this cyber cafe next door to our place on Narciso Street. The cafe is nice with flat screen monitors and air-con.

Some quick observations.

Surigao has a new Ferry terminal, but the SuperCat terminal is still shut down. Downtown street lights are popping up like weeds and luckily we haven't had a jaywalking ticket yet.
Within walking distance of our place is a new resturant called Peng-U Grill. Seems to be giving Adrianos a run for its money. The new place would look at home in any U.S. city. It is open air with an open kitchen where you can pick your food from a iced counter. I paid 500 pesos including tip for six people.
A case of San Migeul is about 300 hundred pesos or you can buy at  a Sari Sari store between 15 and 20 pesos.
A Trike ride is 4 pesos and if you tip them and say Salamat you get a big smile.

Well, gotta go. Next time I'll tell of my first Ph. haircut/massage.

Take care,
Surigao Ken

Hi Ken,

I can't wait to hear about that massage. I still remember my first massage in the Phils (Holy Mackerel!)

Traffic lights? What a waste of electricity! They could be using all that power to cool down more beer :-)

Have you been out to the Sagisi Bar yet? Just wondered if they still had the same singer there.

  Hey all!

Surigao has a new grocery store called T&T, it actually has real shopping carts and accepts credit cards which helps because we are somewhat over budget. I forgot how the PH. can nickel and dime you to death.
Well, the other day Nancy said I needed a haircut and seeing that I was a little shaggy, I agreed.
Went went late morning to a barbershop were most of the barbers were taking a siesta in their chairs. After my wife negotiated with barber she said that he would massage me also for an extra 100 pesos.
Thinking it would be a simple neck massage, I said okay. I sat in the barber chair and Nancy left to go next door to get her nails done. I got a nice haircut with a straight razor trim, been a long time since that has happened, it was nice even though he didn't use any shaving cream, just hot water.
After the haircut he put hot towels on my face and rubbed my face, then my sholders, and then... he unbuttoned my shirt somewhat to my alarm. I looked up and he started to rub my chest and stomach. Well, i'll be! This was a bath, like you get in the hospital. I was worried where he would go next but luckily he skipped my sensitive area and headed towards my legs.
After the bath, he pulled and yanked on every part of my body, then flipped me over and started all over again. The whole processs took over an hour. After this was all done I paid him and staggered out onto the street finding my wife next door. She asked me how I felt, I told her I didn't know, I would tell her later.

Take care all,
Surigao Ken
