Author Topic: Will we get an interview before year 2020?  (Read 3488 times)

Hello everyone. I sure could use some input on the K3 visa. From the time the petition is received by the Embassy in Manila from the NVC how long should a resonable person expect to wait until either a.) the "packet" is received or b.) an interview is scheduled?

My K3 visa petition was received Jan 16, 2004 (I probably should specifiy the year) by the Embassy. At first I was told that we have to "wait" 4-6 weeks for the visa packet. We are now at week 5 and no packet and no further info.

I called the Embassy today and got the same old "hurry up and wait" speech per usual and then I was told that NOW its takes 90 days to get the packet\interview scheduled. So, I am wondering--is it 4-6 weeks, 90 days, or several years? (exuse me for venting).

I was told we had to wait for those ahead of us to be scheduled for their interviews before we receive our date. I asked of those being scheduled now for interviews when were their petitions received and naturally I was told "I am sorry Sir we do not have that information in our database".

Well, I am sorry if I sound a bit upset but sitting around waiting for some unknown date and inquiring about it at "the Bureau of Misinformation\No information" is trying sometimes.

Can anyone offer some insight? Thank you...

I noticed that the embassy’s Web site says the “average” time from receipt of the approved petition from NVC to the interview is 40-60 days for a K-3. If you ass-u-me that they will send out the packet with the appointment letter at least 30 days before the interview, I would say that yours is in the mail by now if they are going to make that 60-day “average”. You can also figure that they won’t be getting much work done during Holy Week (Apr 4-10) if it runs into April. I guess the bottom line is that they will schedule the interview whenever they get a round tuit.

Are you calling the $6.00 “Information” Call Center? I would try to contact the Immigrant Visa Unit directly through the main switchboard. It’s not easy to get through, but they are the only ones who know what is really going on.

I found it interesting that their published waiting times for K-1’s are the same as those for K-3’s. State Department policy has been that K-3’s would receive priority over K-1’s and other non-immigrant visas because of the intention of the Life Act to reunite families as soon as possible. So, I guess that means that either the State Dept has changed it’s policy, or the Manila Embassy is ignoring it. What’s your guess? LOL!
