Vietnam Trip Report: Part 4
As we head south through the night, on or way to Ho Chi Minh City, I sit quietly in the cabin watching Trang as she sleeps. My head is spinning with so may thoughts and I can not get over the love I feel for this girl I have only just meet. I wonder how I every got so lucky as to find a girl like this, and what I would do if I lost her now. As I take her in my arms, she awakens and asks me if I am OK. I am so in love with her that I just can not stand it any longer and I ask her right there if she will marry me. After a very long couple of seconds, she kisses me and makes me the happiest person alive. We both fall back asleep in eachothers arms.
   At about 11 am the next morning we arrive at the train station in downtown Ho Chi Minh City and catch a cab to our hotel. The Rex Saigon Hotel is a very famous hotel right in the center of the city. It is a beautiful elegant old hotel and the room was wonderful. It is sunny and getting very hot outside so we decided to go see if we can find a bathing suit for Trang so I can teach her to swim like I promised. A short distance from the hotel is Ben Thanh market, so we decide to go there to look for a bathing suit for her. For anyone who has never been to a real Asian market before, it is an amazing experience that can not be discribed. The noise, the smells, the sights are all completely unlike anything else. We wonder through the market looking at all the amazing variety of things for sale. Trang finds a bathing suit she likes and after bartering with the girl for a few minutes gets it for the equivalent of $4, which she thinks is still way to much. We finish exploring the market and head back to the hotel for a swim.
    Trang has never learned to swim and is not very comfortable with the water but after a little coaching I get her to come into the pool with me. At first she attaches herself to me like a barnacle, but after a few minutes I get her to relax a bit. I hold her by the waist and move around the shallow end of the pool with her. She says her eyes are bothering her and I think she would be better with a pair of goggles but she says she wants to continue. We stay in the pool for about 1 hour and she grows more comfortable in the water all the time. When we are done she makes me promise that I will continue to teach her when we are together again. After that we go back to the hotel room to get ready for dinner. That night we have a lovely dinner but Trang is very concerned because everything is much more expensive then it is in the north. That night we get dressed up and go to find a club to party for the night. The girl behind the desk at the hotel recommends the club Apocalypse Now, which is not far away. Apocalypse is a very trendy night club decorated with various memorabilia from the movie who’s name it bares. If you like sexy Asian girls and loud music this is the place to go. We have a great time drinking and dancing until the club closes. We then catch a taxi back to the hotel and pass out.
   The next day we get up and spend the day shopping and just wondering around the city. We spend several hours going to all the different jewelry stores until we find a pair of rings we like. I again ask Trang if she will marry me as we get the rings and she says yes so I place the ring on her finger and we are then officially engaged. That night we have a very spechial romantic dinner and return to the hotel early.
   The next day we go and tour the city so I can take pictures. We go to the Reunification Palace, the Jade Pagoda, and the Botanical Gardens. We try to go to the zoo but it is closed to the public for fear of the bird flue. We then get a quiet dinner and go to sleep early because we are flying to Hia Phong at 6 am the next morrning to meet her parents. I am pretty nervous but she tells me that she is sure they will love me.
