I do have two lady friends from different affluent families in the PI, and they are both good, honest, hardworking women. I have known both of them for several years now, and see them sporadically.

However, for other reasons, neither are the mate for me.

I'm sorry to say that you fell into the same mistake that Feb did--you generalize all Pinays and all good Catholic families based on the bad minorities that you have the misfortune to meet.

Maybe you should widen out your search and keep an open mind.  Take a breather and maybe stop looking in the Philippines but look somewhere in Asia. The PI may not be a good place for your taste and beliefs.

I really didn't intend to generalize, for I of all people know that people are as individual as fingerprints.

In reality I stopped 'looking' over a year ago. My trips this year have been for other reasons, mostly to have a good time, which I did.

Sure do like the pineapple in the PI!

Ya know Larry, I was thinking of introducing you to a friend of mine.  But then again, I'm afraid that with your mindset I might be just setting her up to fail by your standards.

Anyway, I see that you like my country and thats a plus. Just don't let the bad minority get to ya.

Truth be known, Carr, my standards are not really all that high. Honesty seems to be the first three hurdles in a two hurdle race. All else is nearly irrelevant. I really am quite openminded, even if a little stubborn.

I've come to accept things as being just the way they are. It doesn't bother me anymore. It was just hard to accept at first.

More than willing to meet, so long as there are no high expectations, and no strings attached, on either side.

A few here can't seem to grasp it when you spell it out for them in black and white!

[This message has been edited by Tim]

I usually stay out of these RP threads but this time I'm making an exception.

I am thinking about all you have written here and transporting it to a country I know more about - China.

China is quite possibly the opposite of the RP as far as religion goes. Followers of western religions are few, and Catholicism is probably the rarest of these western faiths. In general, there is not alot of religion at all in China, even their traditional ancestor worship, Buddism, Daoism, and Confucianism doesn't seem to be fourishing, and it's not the focus of the average person's life.

Yet with all that, I wonder how the average single Chinese woman would respond to your integrity tests. I think (with some exceptions) that you might be surprised, and the results would differ from what you have found so far.

You are the person writing the book about the RP, right ? After you finish it, you might consider turning your attention to China, and applying your writing talents there. Who knows, you may even find a good wife there. From some of the things you have written, I think a Chinese wife might be a good fit for you.

Just my opinion, your personal mileage may vary.

Regards, Tim

I have thought about trying some other cultures, but China I really hadn't considered. Maybe...

For the time being I have fallen in love. Not with a woman but with the country itself. Who knows what the future may bring.

Larry after you have lived for several years in the PI I'm sure you will meet the right one when you are least expecting it.  If I could retire now I would be in the Philippines tomorrow! Hum

I'm in no hurry anymore, Hum.

Just kicking back and enjoying it as it comes.
