I notice you can  post your profile for free. You can find out how much interest you get then you have to pay to join. Anybody join and find it worthwhile?

Hey, I joined cherry blossoms and can't get but 2 responses out of every 10 emails sent... On filipinaheart, you get more unsolicited emails than you can handle... Not to mention dozens of new members a day... Many of the emails I have received have been from 17 - 22 years olds... Once you get past the initial flood of emails you can start to pick who you are really interested in getting to know... After three weeks on filipinaheart, I now have 5 new serious penpals who have potential, all in Cebu and all write to me daily...

Let's see, hummm... No response or more than you can handle... I'll take door number two...

I've learned more on this trip than I ever imagined. There are some major scams going on here now, boys. Involves $100k+ investments to milk $ out of americans.

Proceed with caution, and good luck.

Hi H,

I'm happy to hear that you are living the "Charmed Life" once again! Maybe we can organize a P-L group tour to go along with you and take photos and video. ;o))) We are all just dying to share in the adventure. I don't think I can wait for the trip reports to be posted. LOL You should have kept the dates a secret. ROFLMAO! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Have a great time bro!!!

The chat room on cherry blossoms is just a bit too crazy for me... You never know who you're chatting with... Just too much BS... I've tried it once or twice, but the first time a girl told me that she was using someone else's account in an Internet Cafe, I figured it out pretty quick... IRC is just not my thing...

...for those who have never been to the Philippines.

There’s a little game that some of the teenagers like to play over there. The typical scene in the Internet cafes is a group (2-6) of giggling school girls (ages 12-16) crowded around the computer and e-mailing or chatting on-line with some sucker on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. They will take turns at the keyboard while having great fun pretending to be a real, sincere woman. It’s a group effort and there are even boys pretending to be girls. Go into any Internet place after school lets out in the afternoon and it’s quite a scene. Multiple groups of giggling teenie-boppers on-line and some others playing computer games. You may see a few single ladies in there, but they are few and far between. This seems to be a very popular form of entertainment in Cebu City.

Just a friendly warning: you never know who that is on the other end of the connection! :-)

Good luck!

... in response to A word of caution..., posted by Ray on Nov 21, 2002

I now have second hand knowledge (I met one participant) who informed me there is now a scam going mostly in Manila concerning bilking americans out of major $. This participant was not a 'girl', but rather an investor. There is major money involved.

In the past I have posted rather negatively about certain events concerning the MOB industry. With what I have learned in the last five days, everything else is irrelevant.

All I can say is for everyone to be careful with the $ they send.

Hey Ray,

The only women that I saw in the Butuan Internet cafes that were in their mid-twenties or above, worked there. I heard a group of high school girls giggling at the computer next to me and saying "Tell him that you love him."

Hey Wizard,

Besides, I'm too old and slow to keep up with them! A few guys have managed to find some real nice gals there.

I have my own theory as to why Filipinas often look so different in person than in their photos. Shocked))) Hey, If anyone had wanted a photo of me, I would have sent them a photo of Ben Affleck. LOL

Hey, this is true here too... Women who misrepresent themselves as something they are not... As with anything, caution is advised in this pursuit... That's why I weed out all of those who don't send additional photos after initial contact and won't give me a phone number...

Thanks for the warning...

Hey Wizard,

I couldn't help but chuckle when I read your post because I'm having the opposite situation with one of my pen pals: in the second letter, she gave me her cousin's cell number and asked me to call her.  Sounds kind of quick to me, but maybe...  But I am proceeding with EXTREME caution with her, as she's already made references to cell phones and that kind of thing...makes me wonder if she thinks I'm easy pickings.  If she does, she'll have her balloon burst for sure!
