Anyone stayed at any of the many pensione houses in Cebu? Any recommended? Any NOT recommended?

Also anyone know of a nice cheap place to stay in or around dumaguete?

Off soon.

Larry.

... in response to What is a Pensione House???  n/t, posted by SteveG on Oct 21, 2002

a pensione house is similar to a bed and breakfast. It is just a family or household that takes in boarders. (Not to be confused with the notorious filipino boarding house) They normally are half the cost of a decent hotel. Some are run out of hotels, or old hotels. Service and accomodations vary considerably from house to house. There are many to choose from.

Hi Larry,
I am in Cebu right now.  The only pension that I have stayed at was Kukuks Nest. It was about $6 a night with A/C and cable TV.  The food is pretty good also.  They will probably offer a discount for an extended stay.  I would have to give it a rating of okay in quality, but an excellent value.  Many pension houses at that price do not have A/C or TV.  You will just love the cold showers, it is very refreshing :0)

Hi Hum,
Are you asking about Raymond, the owner of kukuks nest in Cebu?  Last I heard his filipina girlfriend stole all his money, and he shot and killed himself.  I have not visited Kukuk's since 2000, but it seems to now be operated by the girlfriend.  Not sure how much of this is true.
Have also heard about another German in Dumagueste that was killed by his wife's filipino boyfriend so they could get to his business and money.

Hi Jeff,
No, it is too soon to be getting serious about anyone.
But, I sure do enjoy all the attention I receive around here.  I decided to use my mabuhay miles to get a free flight, and take a long needed vacation.

I just cashed in 20,000 of mine and got a R/T for $360. Was saving for a free trip but this works out better yet, more $ per mile awarded.

You are in Cebu now?

Will you be there in two weeks?

If so maybe we can get together again.

Thanx for the info on Kukus nest.
