I caught a 25 pound Chinook salmon today in the Salmon River! Got a big fish head if anyone wants it. Sorry I already ate the eyeballs!

Cool! Where at? The Salmon river was a war zone even on Tuesday! I can't wait to go back again but I'm swamped with work and won't go on the weekend it's a real zoo! The steelhead are hitting in the north and south santiam. I might go up there on the weekend as there's a lot less people up there.  Come on down some weekend.

Hum

PS my fishing buddy got a 40 pounder just before I got mine. We saw three poles snapped.

I got mine on the yaquina river near the toledo airport. They have been pulling them out of there on a very regular basis lately. Some 40 lb.+. Most 20-25 lb.

Maybe your right that maybe my dad caught a young grouper because grouper maximum lenght said to be about 12 feet and weights up to 1,100 pounds as have been reported.I read one fisherman book that one malay fisherman caught one big grouper whose weight was estimated  880 lbs and that they had to sink the boat in order to get it aboard(which sounds rather self defeating procedure).

i used to live in okinawa where i heard about 800lb groupers being caught regularly, but here in florida they don't get anywhere near that size. 30lb test line and a net is all you need to haul one in.
