Two of six Abu hostasges beheaded (9:15 am)
ZAMBOANGA -- Two of the six Filipino Christians kidnapped earlier this week by Abu Sayyaf guerrillas have been beheaded, an army commander said Thursday.
The severed heads of the abducted men were found dumped in Jolo island, Brigadier General Romeo Tolentino said.
Tolentino, military chief of Jolo island, said a note was included with one of the heads, saying "those who do not believe in Allah will suffer the same fate."
One severed head was found dumped near the army headquarters in Jolo town late Wednesday while the second head was found wrapped in plastic near the public market on Thursday, he said.
The two men were among six followers of the Jehovah's Witnesses Christian sect seized by the Abu Sayyaf in Patikul town in Jolo on Tuesday while selling cosmetics and personal care products.
Two Moros initially seized with the group were freed by the Abu Sayyaf, a group notorious for kidnapping and attacking Christians and foreigners. (AFP)
