Jicelle just got her visa, but our NOA2 expires Aug. 2nd! I dont think there is any way I can get a ticket, get off work and get her here before the 4 month period expires. I sure dont want to try to bring her here and have them deport her if they notice the "visa extension" isnt stamped there, like I guess they are doing in Detroit! Our POE will be Minneapolis/St. Paul . And I also dont want to have to have her call the embassy, wait another month while they stamp her visa....what should I do?   Did any of your mahals arrive in the US after the 4 month period had expired ? did they have any trouble? It seems like a big gamble for me...

Mog,

Relax! I would say that quite a few of the fiancées arriving here are past the 4-month expiration date on the NOA. This date is routinely extended if necessary by the consular staff while the visa application is being processed overseas. There have only been a few isolated incidents reported at Detroit that I have heard of, and those were where the visa was issued after the NOA expiration date and the consulate “forgot” to extend it, so I wouldn’t be concerned about it. The visa itself should be good for 6 months after issue.

The only time that the expiration date should cause a problem is if the required paperwork isn’t submitted to the consulate in a timely manner and they consider the application “dead” because they haven’t heard from you.

Hi Ray,

Sorry guys, Ray's right, it's no big deal.  I was thinking about the VISA expiring, not the 2nd NOA.  Guess I need a vacation.

Mog, Sally's 2nd NOA expired March 19th and she arrived on May 23rd.

Mog, if Jicelle doesn't mind going quickly you still have time.

You could wire the ticket money now to Manila (PNB, Metro Bank, Western Union).  She could take a couple of days to pack and say goodbye, and then head to Manila.  On Monday she could get the money and book a PAL flight for, say, Wednesday the 31st, LAX or SFO.  In the meantime you book the connecting flight to MN.  She'd have to hang around for a long layover probably but there are tons of Filipinas at those airports and this might help her to relax.  I know that when Sally went to Manila by herself on a family emergency she was happy to have so many Filipinas to talk to at SFO.

It's hectic, but it's one way to avoid the extension.
