Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the tips on rice. I’ll try that special blend Ray. As for eating I think I have consumed more rice since Nancy’s arrival than my whole life previous. Luckily, I’ve grown to enjoy rice for breakfast, for mid morning snack, for brunch, for lunch, for early afternoon snack, for late afternoon snack, for the evening meal, and for going to bed snack. (All in the same day of course.)

As for the little one on the way, we’re looking for the blessed event around Dec. 30th. Hopefully this year for taxes. Tell me, is that wrong? We go to the doctor for the sonogram to see what sex the baby is in two weeks.

With apologies to the Simpson’s:

Doctor: There’s the picture of your baby Mr. Pearce
Me: WooHoo! It’s a boy! …. And what a boy!
Doctor: That’s the umbilical cord Mr. Pearce.

I bought a rice cooker, a Zojirushi before Nancy came. It’s nice, with a fuzzy logic chip in it. Of course the instruction are in Chinese so I trash them. But it is programmable and keeps the rice warm and edible all day long.

Well, goodbye all for now. I’m always lurking.

Take care,
Surigao Ken

This is VICKY, I am up late and cannot sleep so I came downstairs so I would not keep my darling up too. I ate something that did not like me too much. I took a taste of an appetizer he made for himself. Jalapenos peppers (with the seeds and all), stuffed with cream cheese and Wasabe paste and a little Tabasco for good measure, rolled in flour and deep fried. He eats them like candy and against my better judgement I decided to try a small bite of one. I should have known better, he eats things that would make the devil himself sweat. I danced around blowing and drinking iced water and crying until he made me take a mouthful of catsup and it slowed down the burn. I did not think I swallowed any of it but I must have as I have heart burn now. It serves me correct, he has warned me many times to ask first before I taste anything he has made for himself.

My husband will eat rice so long as it is with something. He will eat riceballs and raisins or fried rice or rice with a little butter and salt. But he is not a real rice eater as I am. He prefers potatoes. He is fond of "wild rice" which I think is mostly grass seeds and he likes it made with chicken stock. We also have a very nice Zorushi rice cooker but ours had English instructions along with the Japanese but I knew how to work it anyhow. One trick I have learned is to make the rice with distilled or bottled or treated water as we have well water here and it has many minerals that make the rice taste funny if I do not use the treated water at the tap.

My man is mostly a carnivore. Meat is fine, meat and potatoes is heaven for him. He prefers game meat but eats beef and pork equally well too. He was thinking of buying a few buffalo to keep for meat but they tend to get a disease that makes cows have missed-carriages so he cannot have them here. I wish he could. He does so love the taste of buffalo and it is better for him than fatty beef and pork. He will eat sea food of almost any sort including squid which is odd for an American. He adores cocktail shrimps but he puts too many horse radishes in the sauce for me. We grow them in the garden and he keeps them and grinds them fresh as he needs them. He likes them on sandwiches and with seafood. He also slices them and candies them as a treat for himself. Candied horse radishes. He is a little goofy.

I have told you all about his iron stomach and what all he will eat if left to his own devices especially for breakfast. His snacks can be even stranger. Jalapeno jelly and peanut butter. Candied horse radishes and jalapenos, Tabasco popcorn, Wasabe with caviar, sardines in hot pepper paste. If he is in a hurry for breakfast he puts a banana in a blender with a raw egg and orange juice, a spoonfull of instant coffee and a tablespoonful of Tabasco. He wizzes it smooth and drinks it. I hate when he gets his own breakfast.

...Advanced neuro fuzzy® logic technology. I knew that my brain was not advanced enough for one of those units! ?:oP

Hey Ken,

My doctor told my wife to limit my rice consumption. It helps when your doctor is one of your best friends. LOL I'm actually starting to like the stuff. Now my wife says, "Remember what your doctor said." Shocked( She's such a good nurse.

Hi Surigao Ken and Nancy,
Do you have the picture of your sonogram?I was having my first sonogram last June 27 and they give us our baby first picture. They cannot tell what's baby sex till she/he be 20 week.So by september I be having sonogram again to determine iether its a boy or girl.Last week I have my regular visit to my doctor we hear our baby heartbeat and kicking. Then on our way home we go shopping in Maternity shop and we found a prenatal heart listener so we bought it.I can hear my baby heartbeat and kicking everyday. When he be nine months  I think we can hear his/her hiccup too.Would be much better to buy those stuff for Nancy too and I know both you will enjoy the prenatal sound listener. We  buy some baby stuff in disneyland too for baby.We buy minnie and mickey character so if it's a girl she can have both but if a boy only mickey.
