Phew! A/C is out and it is murder out here tonight. Got up to 92 today and humid as all get out. I swear I saw a salamander walking by here at sunset. Of course Vicky is in hawg heaven. I normally don't use A/C too much except to keep the house nice and dryish. She was actually wearing pajamas earlier. It is still above 80 and humidity has gone higher. I can feel a storm coming on and see one too. Dark skies and lightning to the northwest. Maybe it will hit here and cool us off a little. Vicky is napping quite contentedly under a throw on the sofa in the den and I am sitting in the den with a fan on me. It is just too hot on the top floor in our bedroom.
That is one area where we disagree, Vicky and I. I just about have to have a fan in the bedroom to keep the air moving. She doesn't like it. So she sleeps on the side of the bed opposite the fan, with me in-between her and the fan. She says it is because I am still mostly savage and uncivilized and can't stand sleeping in a house and I would rather sleep outdoors. She's half right. Usually she sleeps under all the covers and I under just the sheet. She snuggles up close to me as I throw off heat like a furnace. Always have. She says it is nicer in the winter when I sleep under the covers. The dog is on the floor right now between us, sleeping, in front of the fan. She agrees with me about moving air.
Vicky is still a tropical girl at heart. She loves this weather. Hot and sticky. Ugh. I think she would rather live in the Florida Keys than here, even in the summer.
She has been talking about our moving down there eventually. Depends on many things. I have sort of been thinking about it myself, but it is a while down the road. If I am successful enough and my grandson/other grandkids don't have much interest in ranching I may sell out and retire down south. I may even buy an amphibious plane of some sort and do charter flying in the Keys and Caribbean. I am thinking of taking flying lessons now, or rather, taking them back up again. I can fly, but I am no pilot. There is a difference. Oh well, that is for the future. Tonight I had better try to get some sleep. The A/C guys had better be here tomorrow or I may have to organize a scalping party. This unit is still under warranty.
