In a stream, just throwing out a lure after work.  My wife says, "Where is it?"

"I threw it back, it was a little bass."

"How big was it?"

I hold up my hands to show about 9 inches (way not legal).

"Oooo that's a good one.  Why you don't keep it?"

-LOL!  I'm so glad I married a Filipina...

Thanks everyone for your input.  Now a question about fishing:  almost all Asian ladies like fish, but how many of us have ladies that like fishing?  I know of one Filipina in Wyoming who likes ice fishing!!?

Recently I taught my wife how to fish, with a rod that is Shocked)  She can cast pretty good already and she seems to like the adventure - trying different places, making a good cast, being outdoors by the water (but not in the sun), trying different lures.  But she hasn't caught a fish yet and that makes it less appealing to her, of course.

When she was a young girl in Camiguin her Grandfather would go fishing and take the kids along.  He would throw out a line from shore and even catch octopus that way (so she loves octopus).  The kids would catch fish in the shallows with their bare hands.  Heck, the only time I've done that is at a herring run.

Like Jeff, I have a wife who bugs ME to go fishing.
I like my fishing, but after 9 years of fishing nearly every week I had become a little jaded. But Doan's arrival rekindled the spark and we would go most weekends. She outfished me several times. It was mainly fishing the estuaries for Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon and Mangrove Jacks (do you know any of these Aussie fish?) The sight of a 30 pound 'Barra' certainly got her excited.

I'm looking forward to getting her out to sea to catch Sailfish, Spanish Mackerel and Reef fish. She'll love that!
Of course the arrival of our daughter 6 weeks ago means that won't be happening for a while.

Well Jimbo, out of 2 Filipina wives, both like fishing.

At the local municipal fishing pier, at least 80% of the people fishing are Filipino and maybe 30% of those are ladies.

My wife out-fishes me just about every time. The only things she has thrown back so far are stingrays. Eats everything else…

Last night, I was visiting a Filipino couple who like fishing.  They just came back from a trip to the Philippines.  The husband was showing me pictures from a fishing trip, but as for catches, he only caught tropical aquarium type fish.  The wife likes going to a fish pond on their property and took her fishing pole with her.  I think the pond is stocked with medium-sized tropical (perhaps talapia).  I saw a video from the trip last night.  In the pasa-lubong package was included the singing bass novelty item.  (You might remember the rubber bass that flips and sings "Take Me to the River", "Don't Worry Be Happy", and a couple of other tunes.  The kids were having alot of fun with it.

... get hassled by their wives when they want to go fishing. Mine's the only one who bugs me to go. I brought home some leftover live bait sardines from a fishing trip last weekend and she raved at how fresh and wonderful they are. Of course she insists on cleaning all the fish herself! Yep, Asian wives are definately a fishermen's friend. BTW, anyone in Southern California interested in my "Surf Fishing and Weenie Roast Extravaganza" next Saturday, follow the link here:

this is something along the same line, i remember one evening my pinay asawa and i were fishing off a seawall and i thought i had a pretty good sized fish on my line. when i reeled it in, to my disappointment, it was a stone crab out of season, with its claw securely clenched to my hook. when i brought it out of the water onto land, the crab released its grasp and i was just about to kick that sucker back into the water when my wife swung my 5 gallon bucket at my shin to stop me. ouch. i explained to her that this particular variety of crab was not legal to keep and even if it were, you were only allowed to keep one claw and return the crab to the water. even after explaining the amount of fine that i could face if caught by a marine patrol, she insisted on keeping it (the whole crab) and threw it into the cooler. she loves seafood but as it turned out she said the stone crab wasn't as tasty as blue crabs. and i'll mention also that if we had any left over bait shrimp, they would be cooked and eaten as well.

Big enough to swim big enough to EAT!  One time I ate a patty of little fried fishes. Tasted like fish! I don't know if it was that or the chicken heads I ate but something made me sick.   I went fishing a few weeks ago and caught two Kokanee's.   Hum

Hey Jim,

"Oooo that's a good one. Why you don't keep it?" LOL You should have spread your hands 3 feet apart and watched Sally's reaction. She would have thrown you in and had you swimming after that fish. ;o)))
