So, I was thinking, I really need a change. I have no experience but I make good money as a waitress. So I would have to get a job that pays about the same.
Don't laugh guys, but here is what I think I would like to do.
Immigration officer.
Reasons:
1) I think they need more "hot" immigration officers(hehe)
2) I think I could make a differance
3) I really cared about these people when I went there and saw what they were going through

So tell me Big brothers what do you think?

They need good women to pat down and/or search other women. Any foreign language you speak is an asset. The pay will beat waitress work or clerking at the INS. You'll have to put up with people that are not happy about the lines, but you're already used to angry people as a waitress. And in this case, unlike waitress work, if they give you too much crap you can have them strip searched.

To do well as a waitress, you have to concentrate on personal attention and service - two traits not held in high esteem for government workers, so you'd probably flunk the interviews. How about a sales job?

Lori,

You have a heart and are just too nice to be an Immigration Officer. All of the other employees would despise your kind, helpful, friendly demeanor. Your INS supervisors would become alarmed that your efficiency would not only make other employees look bad and cause hostilities, but jeopardize their requests for additional manpower and funding. There is no way you could work at many of the INS centers, since you speak English and obviously can read.

But if you still want the job...Go For It! There would be a lot of happy immigrants. Shocked)

If you live near an airport, try for a federal security screener job.

God pay, benefits, job security.

Then when i appply for a k1 visa for my gf in makati
i will only have to wait 2 wks for the whole thing to
go through  , since i will mention on my application,
"well my good friend, immigration officer mrs duong,
"..............and the paperwork will fly through at lightning speed.
All kidding aside, if you want something  go for it.
i myself used to wait tables for 10 yrs the money is not that great. then at age 30 i started a small cleaning business, at age 37 i started my first internet company, kept that for 5 yrs  started another one, closed the first one, now i make good money, and even buy and sell land.
Follow your dreams young lady it will serve you well, never be afraid to try new things, and dont listen to those who
dont agree support you.
Shocked)
