I just posted a reply to fathertime's 3rd post on this subject and it is buried down in the forum list where it is hard to find but a long and I think interesting post.

Well LP, at least at 27 years age difference he'd be in father/daughter territory...and not a 40 year age difference
(granddaughter territory) like the retired mad scientist.

Besides, as a lawyer, maybe he knows how to write a bullet proof pre-nup, and plans on hiring a food taster like the ancient Egyptian kings...ya know, just in case she were to decide she wants it all now!

Fwiw I've always found your posts thoughtful and filled with nuggets of wisdom. In fact I often quote one of the choicest: that a fair percentage of these women are looking more for a caretaker than love. Ain't that the truth.

I hope you're stuff gets better but I also hope you don't piss away your dignity while trying to hold onto this deal. Too many guys do that you know, even the ones who aren't desperate.

I hear where you are coming from.

I suppose there are as many types ladies as there are guys. The language barrier in the beginning really is a problem because we tend to look through rose-colored glasses and only want to think of the best case scenairios working out when in fact and actuality, there could play out in time many, many different mis-understandings.

My wife really is a good girl and would do anything for me domestically.Cook, wash,of course "shop" etc...And,she "is" a terrific mother to our child who takes good care of the house.

On the upside, the wife tolerates things like me not coming home for a night with giving her some really bullcrap story and tolerates me doing things like taking off alone to Vegas 3 or 4 days at a time or for a week of hunting.

I just thought it was so clear in the beginning that she wanted to get an education and work here to take advantage of the available economy here compared to where she came from.

No,I havent lost my dignity yet but I have certainly enforced some financial boundaries.
Fact, the wife is simply lazy as far as going out into the workworld...
I wouldn't even mind if she sent her paycheck to help her family...Just do "something" with her life........

...I assumed you might've been cracking but I should've realized from your posts you're a levelheaded guy and on top of things. You know how some guys will give up any sense of control just to keep a relationship alive. Many MOB types are even worse because they're so weak going in, it's why they got into MOB in the first place. As long as you feel you're getting something in return, some "value" so to speak, everything should work out fine.

Strange isn't it? Some guys get into this just to find a domestic goddess. You're smart enough to see the benefits, both as a couple and to her individually, of not having one. Still, if she's happy and you can strike a balance with it more power to you. Seems odd she doesn't wish take advantage of the opportunities though, most of these women jump at the chance to be all they can be, more than they were back home. Not to mention by doing so they gain the independence they lacked there. And as you stated, most want to help the folks they left behind. Ah well, good luck in further refining a compromise that results in contentment for all. And keep your insights coming.

PS: Lol, have you taught her the finer points of motor vehicle operation in the Bay State? One reason we may see eye to eye is because I'm a Masshole myself...South Shore born and raised.

I too ran into a lot of that. Perhaps bringing my wife to use her in pornography or prostitution. I also heard a lot about Americans adopting Ukrainian/Russian children & using them for child labor & exploiting them. When we had our interview in Kiev my wife was very upset because he saw a couple who were adopting a kid. She was VERY angry. I could understand till she explained to me. Coincidentally I was reading also in a Christian ministry magazine a story about a couple who adopted 4 siblings. They adopted 2 then found out there was 2 others who were older. They older ones did NOT want to come to America because they feared they would be used a slaves. They finally came over when one was about to turn old enough to get drafted into the Russian military.
I though all that was VERY intersting. I first ran into that when I spoke with my wife. I asked her what she would like to do here. She said she was majoring in politics but what she REALLY loved was to become a dog fancier. I said then do THAT. In America you can do whatever you like for a living. I then ADDED "they also make pretty good money at that in the US". THAT did it!!! All of a sudden I wanted her to study that so I could have her work & I would take her money.
Well a lot has changed but I thought it was very interesting what you said about the lady not trusting her husband.
