We got the notice the other week that the Removal of Conditions was approved for my wife. Accordingly, I took today off to travel into the Newark, NJ office to drop off the things that the letter indicated. First mistake,, believing what the letter said we needed to bring. The letter says just 2 things, to bring her passport and 3 recent photos that are the same as the one on her current 2yr greencard (3/4 view). The floor guard on duty told us at 10am when we arrived, that they were not accepting any more approval notice people that day and to come back another time. Like , ahh ,, no,, I took a day off work to travel here, and we are going to do this today. The gentleman on a break behind her said that there was only one person doing that work today and it would be 2-3 hours before we would be called, and maybe go make an appointment and come back later,, gee thanks!! We decided to wait, and after almost 3 hours in a stifling hot room, we were called for our 5 minute visit with the very pleasent INS official (really nice lady).   The photos now have to be 'Standard Passport' style (front view), the old style is no longer accepted. The photo guy at CVS pharmacy knew the new requirements, so we had the correct style. Next, she got her single fingerprint on the application, and then after checking a few other things, the lady asked for my wife's old greencard (not part of the letter requests). She stapled the greencard to the application and stamped the passport to say that she is now approved. In 3 to 6 months we hope to have the new 10 year Greencard in the mail. Now it's off to the cafeteria for a overpriced sandwich and drink, and then home sweet home.

Arrived 1 hour away to Boston (took a day off) got to JFK Federal Bldg. (office hours 6am to 2pm) and the desk clerk says you need to have an appointment to get in...(not the letter of approval)...for an interview...
So,we make the appointment and then 2 weeks from now we'll drive 1 hour each way "again" pay the $20.00 parking "again" and hopefully put this behind us...
Just wonder if a phonecall could have avoided all this and got an appointment over the phone...Too late now...
