How's married life.  You missing Kentucky any?
Don't worry, it's still there and hasn't changed any.

Hey Bill,

Actually, I am now working for an Architect in Downtown Dallas.  I am designing bowling/entertainment centers around the country.

Pretty neat work.  Plus since it is a small office I am getting a real education in all aspects of Architecture, from writing building specs. to designing lighting plans.

Not really missing KY. too much except I miss my family a little.  Anna is doing great.  She is still working for Walmart as a dept. manager of floral department.

She wants to move on to a more professional career but she needs to improve her typing and computer skills a bit more.  Otherwise I think she would do great.  She is really smart.

Other than that I am just waiting my time out here.

In case you didn't know I will most likely be moving to Ukraine on a permanent basis probably by the spring.  Anna and I are investors in a joint American-Ukrainian company and are optimistic about there progress.

There is a whole lot to tell about that story.  Send me your e-mail and/or phone and we can talk more about it.

... in response to Business in Ukraine, posted by Travis on Oct 3, 2004

Travis,

I have no direct expertise, but my good friend Elena is a tax inspector.  She tells me it is very difficult doing business in the Ukraine (in general) and corruption is alive and well.

Unless you have experience in international business, you should seek out and find a lot of advice.  I have several Russian business clients, both in the U.S. and in Moscow, and have found them to be very shrewd, tight with their money (isn't everyone?) and very tough negotiators.  The only negotiators I found tougher were Japanese.  Suffice it to say, no deal is done until the paperwork is signed.

Good luck with your venture.

Craig
