It depends on the airline. Most deals come from three Russian charters.

Charters stopped flying from May 15th through Oct 1. Why I do not know. The R/T airfare from Moscow to DR was $ 700.

Considering the past connection between Russia and Cuba, it might be easier to find a flight to Cuba, and then on to DR.
Many Cubans have travelled to Russia before, and vice -versa.
Or, fly to Miami, and then to the DR, probably the cheapest way to go, but less interesting than Cuba.

Been to Cuba and do not wish to go back.   But I have read on this board that there are direct flights from Kiev (I know that is not Russia) and some have said direct flights from Moscow to Dominican Republic, but I can not find them.  I am looking for that information.
thanks

Easiest way is to book Ukraine Air to Amsterdam (no transit visa needed), followed by Martin Air directly to DR, they fly to Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, and Puerta Plata. I have done this with my UW 4 times, all with no problems. Sometimes return involves an overnight in Amsterdam, but they have a hotel in International area to stay in.

I was under the impression there were direct flights from Moscow and from Kiev?  Anyone know? I was trying to avoid having my friend change planes.

What is the cost for this route? Is this for R/T?

Is there an over night stay needed for Amsterdam? How long is the layover?

About this hotel what is the name and what is the cost? Will they need a visa to get to the hotel?

R/T is about $1500 from Kiev. Overnighting in Amsterdam, if necessary, is dependant on what time flight from Kiev leaves. The hotel is called Mecure (sp?), tel. 011-31-20-604-1339. No transit visa necessary, as one does not pass thru security. About $100 (not cheap) for a night.

I do not think my friend wants to over night anywhere, and frankly I am trying to keep her from changing planes if i can.  Someone mentioned direct flights from Moscow or Keiv, and frankly if she could get to Kiev she would have no language problem there and thus a stop over there would be no problem.   But I can not find any information on direct flights, travel agencies to book charters, etc.

I was informed they continue again in October. They flew through April. And they do not fly during the summer.

I am in the same boat as you. A direct flight is better.

The airfare prices I see from the west coast of the USA to Kiev is $1200 to $1300. So for an extra 100 dollars you can meet your honey on the beach.

I see a package(s) for $700 from suntrips which includes airfare lodging and meals for a week in the DR.

Total cost $ 2200.00, can you go to Kiev and spend a week this summer for less?

Having been in BOTH countries at least 6 times each, I would MUCH rather spend quality time in DR. (Especially if you want to eat healthy).
