Hi outwest,

I think 3 must see places when going to the Philippines are:

1.) Boracay, between December and June, for a REALLY nice beach.

2.) Baguio, one of the most beautiful places in the RP. There you wont need much aircon.

3.) Corregidor. Jimbo was there recently and said the place was interesting as ever.

Just a few suggestions....

Boracay and Baguio? Are you kidding Jay ROTFLMAO those have got to be the most over rated places in the whole Philippines! Boracay SUCKs unless you want to hang out with loads of drunk'n germans on a dirty beach with no corals.
As for Baguio maybe it was nice twenty years ago before most the trees where cut down. I spent a few days there in 93 and will never go back! Two thumbs down.

Hi Hum,

I'm not a diver, so I don't need coral at my beach. Last time I was in Boracay, I spent a week hanging out with a german couple and had literaly one of the best times of my life. And yes, I was drinking at the time. Stayed in a beautiful house w/ a view of the ocean for P100 pesos a night.

As for Baguio, it's sooo different from the rest of the Philippines that I like it. I alway's found the people there to be very, very, nice. Much more than the lowlanders below. Guess they weren't so hot and thus were in a better mood.

No, I'm not kidding. two great places to go. You can keep mindanao, and most of the visaya's, far as I'm concerned. The province is nice, but a little boring IMO. I like a place where people are awake after 9:00 PM! LOL!

Oh well...to each his own.

Jay

P.S.- Last I heard Palawan is the place to be, but I don't know as I've never been there. Look's good in pics.

Vilma and I went to Palawan in May of 2000.  We even visited Dos Palmas, which is where the tourists got kidnapped last year.   I do not know how safe it is there now, but visiting the underground river was fun, and island hopping was a lot of fun. Several of the islands reminded me of Gilligans Island (lol).
Btw, it was the only place Vilma and I both got sick from the ice, and I think it is malaria that is supposed to be a problem there.
Dos Palmas is really nice, but I do regret not checking to see if we could camp out on one of the deserted islands, that would have been fun.

Last time I went to Boracay it was VERY clean, clear water and white sand. Which do YOU think is the most beautiful beach in the Philippines? Just curious.

Opps! moal boal is only good if you want to get certified for diving it's the cheapest place in the PI but... lots of foreigners and a few bars. I would recommend the Coral Cay resort on Siquijor island it's ran by a kano Dave. (a bit hard to get out to the reef at low tide but a very nice white sand beach at least a mile long) For you the best place may be Dumaguete city Negros. You can rent a apt there easy. Also you can get to Cebu or siquijor in less than 1 1/2 hrs on the fast ferry, and to bohol in just over two hrs.  Two flights a day from manila to Dumaguete. Humabdos

PS When are you going to get you a lonely Planet travel book? LOL   Humabdos

I recall Hum giving a name of a resort community near Dumagette that he says is both cheap price and very nice.  He'll tell you.

It sounded like something that I'd also like to try sometime.

I've not been to Cebu, but I'd like to go next time.  From Cebu I could take an overnight trip down to Bohol.
