Women coming here to visit???

Hello to all!!

My friend is currently writing several women from Russia. I ask him if he plans on going there and he said "No..they can come and visit me here"  From what I know.....the majority do not have visas and getting one to the U.S.is not easy. I also have told him if they ask for money for a visa and plane tickets...its a scam.

My question to this board is has anyone wrote women from Russia and had then come here to visit???

Your friend is going to be hit up for the funds to do this - of which of course it will not happen most likely

no, and if your friend lives in the US, he needs to "put the crack pipe down and step away from the computer"  russina girl getting a tourist visa, good luck :-)

With the exception of EXTREMELY RARE cases, they CANNOT come here. You may hear the words: "I have almost all the money for my tickets, and a friend arranged a visa for me (with a bribe) even though it is rare. I only need another $200 (or more!) to pay for my ticket, and I will be in your arms!"

Don't fall for it. Many of us lost hundreds of dollars to that scam. If you are going to pursuea Russian/Ukranian woman, you are going to HAVE TO GO THERE YOURSELF.

Good thing he likes to write 'cuz thats about as close as he will ever get to meeting them in person.  A Visa is obtainable for those with clout and high connections or a student visa...a business visa...but an average RW has very little chance to ever get a tourist visa.  Your "friend" knows nothing.

Unless she is the daughter of a dignitary she most likely will never get a visa to the U.S.  Even the K1/K3 and DCF process is difficult.

Your "friend" is an idiot and should stop writing those girls immediate but apologize to them first for being the ignorant, selfish and odious fool that he appears to be.  With his attitude he perpetuates the image that Americans use the rest of the world only for their own device.

I would say to tell him to go and visit these sweet girls but I would never want to be responsible for recommending this disaster on these genuine women.

visas are tough to come by. But the real problem is your friend's attitude. Why on earth would he not want to visit a woman's town, family, etc? Probably the most interesting and rewarding trip he could ever take. There are no mail order brides delivered to your door. Actually, when I met my (former) wife (Moscow) she came here 1st because she got a special visa as an employee of an American company. But really, none of these women are going to hop a plane and visit. Ever. So if he is too lazy, too busy, or too afraid to go there, he is clearly not cut out for this quest. IMHO.
