My questions are:
(1) Is there any clinic in Simferopol approved by the U.S. Embassy for medical exam given to the K1 fiancee?
(2) I understand that Kiev has two U.S. approved clinics: American Medical Center (AMC) and Clinic for Oil-Refining Industry of Ukraine, or Hospital for Oil Refining Industry (HORI)?. There are conflicting opinions about which is better. I am looking for a clinic, where fewer applicants go and get the exam done quickly. I am willing to pay 50 bucks (or something like that) more for convenience.
Anyone has recent experience?

My fiancee was just at the AMC two weeks ao. It was US$100 and she was out of there by noon but had to come back after 5 pm to pick up the package.

She said it was easy and really didn't take long. Afer they took blood from her about 10 am she was able to go do her police report and then came back an hour later to finish everything. Got the police report and medical exam done on the same day.

My wife is from Simferopol and there is no clinic there that handles visa med exams.  Dec 25 2002 my then finace had her appointment at the AMC.  I arrived in Kiev the afternoon of the 25th to spend Christmas and New Years with her.  She said the experience was very pleasant and they had her paperwork ready by the early afternoon of the 25.  I paid $100 and it was well worth the money.

My fiancee just used the American clinic.
She was satisfied, but the waiting room was tight (2 adjacent
couches), but no complaints about her experience.

Most amusing were the conversations she heard.  Women talked
pretty openly with each other since the men couldn't understand.
And the men did the same assuming the women didn't understand.
She got to be a fly on the wall.
After they realized she spoke English the men lowered their voices
to whispers.

Before this she was very anxious about a career here and perhaps
having to go to grad school here.  But now realizes she is in  a
much better predicament than most of the women moving here,
especially since she and i can communicate easily, whereas most
of the women couldn't speak much english.

My wife and step-son were at the AMC 3 years ago and she was amazed at the politness and efficiency of the facility, BUT, was $100.00 then. Long lines, normal inefficiency at the Oil Refining Hospital, so I kept them away from there.
