My fiancee received a package from the U.S. Embassy. Her E-mail is somewhat confusing and I need help from someone who has the latest information.

(1) She says "K1 visa costs 100.00 (it is ten thousand dollars)" Is it really that expensive? If it is 100.00 in European format, it is in fact 10,000 in US format. But, it seems to me $100.00 in US format or one hundred dollars. We have had this type of confusion many times before.

(2) It is not clear whethe the date of interview is assigned by the U.S.Embassy or she can select the day.

I am asking her to send the entire copy by fax or E-mail. In the mean time any help would be appreciated.

Visa costs $100 us dollars cash.

we sent email form requesting an interview date of April 27th and instead were assigned April 28th,  i don't think the necessary lead time is very long if you have your docs together. this was about a week ago.

tip, my fiance just had her physical and brought her immunization records with her and asked them to translate it for her.  They did no extra chargeand put it on an official form of some sort.

http://kiev.usembassy.gov/press/040218_electr_visa_eng.html

the link is within the text of the story.
They have an email address to mail to also.  they now prefer everything in electronic form.  My fiancee had her kev1 turned into a PDF so she could send it to them.

Her packet 3 took 2 weeks to arrive via Ukraine postal service. You can download packet 3 and 4 from the website too.  but it comes in a zip file so i had to download, unzip and then send to my fiancee.  But we had everything done with packet 3 by the time she received it in the mail.
So electronic way is much faster.

Hi Gman

Your info has been very valuable to me. I downloaded packets 3 and 4.

Two questions: You mentioned that your fiancee made a PDF for her Kev-1. But the instruction states, " Your interview can only be scheduled after we received the hard copy of the approved petition as well as the signed and filled out LEV-1 form."
Q1= They want the hard copy but your fiancee sent a PDF form. Is it still possible to have an appointment for the interview?
Q2= I don't know what the "approved petition" really means. The Embassy has already my petition on hand. So, what more my fiancee is supposed to send them?

I would really appreciate your help!

Hi Gman,

Your advice was very helpful, thanks! I sent to the U.S. Embassy web site. One thing I am not sure about is: Which is K1 visa classified in, immigrant or non-immigrant visa?

I think technically it is considered non-immigrant.  On the right side
tool bar they have a seperate tab for Fiance visas just above the k-
3's.

Also to be on the safe side, I told my fiance that if asked, she
should  say that she does not intend to work or goto school until
after she adjusts her status.

When i last went thru immigration in Chicago, they told me that
when she enters she should just come thru the same line i do.

We are doing it right now also and just had our interview date set today.

First - the cost of the Visa in Ukraine is US$100 cash.

Second - you can request a date you want the interview to be done on. If that date is not available they'll email and say what dates are available. It took us about a week but we now have May 27 as the interview date. We oriinally requested June 1 but that was not available. We then asked for May 28 but the 27th is the closest we could do it. When your fiancee sends her Kev-1 form in she can request the date and then work on it from there.

Good luck!
