Just read about a new portable electric translator in Playboy and thought about you guys. Ectacto X5 is available in Russian for around $450.  It has a million word dictionary but the best feature is that it has spech to speech abilities.  Speak English into it and it repeats your words accent free in Russian.  (ectaco.com)

Really progress in communication technologies goes ahead, but the best way of translation stays human, hand-made translation. Electric program gives, as the result, 95% comic gibberish. The programs generate incorrect translations at best and mangled translations at worst. You can go to http://datingadvice.alpharight.com/ - contact me and I will help you in English-Russian translations and Russian-English translations 'for around $450':-)) within all your life:-)))

http://www.ectaco.com/dictionaries/view_info.php3?dict_id=286&refid=0&rfr_id=1&rqt_id=2&pagelang=23

Frankly what someone needs to do is get one of those Apple Ipods and have someones girl friend say sentances in Russian like "where is the toilet at" and title your MP3 file like 'toilet'  and then put it in a MP3 file and upload it into the Ipod.

I can see it now...

"Do you know english?"

"Where is the soft toilet paper at"

"Where is McDonalds at"

"I will buy you a whole new wardrobe tomorrow, when I return from my meeting"

"Do you know what a breath mint is ?"

"Here is $1.00 keep the change"

Plus you can put all your favorite music on it.

Some of you guys with russian wives could create these listing really easily and we can share them online...verse, buy a device that probably won't work very well.

Sounds like a neat translator. A little pricey but maybe price will come down after it has been out for a while.

Ken is there a website where one can see any info on this translator?  Problem I had with Playboy was I never was able to read any of the articles Smiley
