I think a while back you posted that you had once used AbsoluteAgency, the match website with monthly subscription.

I also used them about 3 years back with good success and zero scammers.

However, the bad experience I had with them occurred when I wanted to end my monthly fee.  There was no place on their website to terminate (even though it was very easy to get subscription started).  I had to send them several threatening messages both on the site and to other addresses to get them to take me off the automatic charges to my credit card.

I am wondering if others have dealt with them recently, and if there is a painless way to get the charges stopped once you have signed up with them.

And, please, do not bother telling me about the high scammer rate, etc., with them.  I have dealt with them before and with many other monthly fee websites and have yet to encounter any scammers.

I had the exact same experience. However, I did run across a few scammers but met a very sincere lovely lady also. The scammers were good lessons for me with minimal expense being created.

Yes Absolute is a good place to build your skills to seperate scammers from sincere ladies. However never continue with a lady who does not have a phone at home. Yes a few who do not have a phone will be honest. However this one way to milk you by email.

If they write you email every day be carefulll, as this is a negative sign too! Most honest ones can only write you once or twice a week if that.

I would agree. I did meet one lady who did not have a phone which concerned me. However, I had Jack of First Dream deliver some flowers. The guy who delivered the flowers looked for evidence of another man etc. and all looked as though she was sincere. It turned out she was.

I also have had several situations that looked like major red flags with one particular lady that all later proved to be not a real issue. She was honest and sincere. I had put a lot of time into this lady and thought my gosh she is trying to scam me.

The situation was that I was meeting her in Prague. She told me that she was required to have a certain amount of money for her to be able to arrive as she had to show that she had the funds to pay for her trip and stay. I had never heard of this. She asked for 500 dollars. I asked this board if anyone had run into this and one person said they had. Well, I sent her the $500 and when I arrived at the airport in Prague I was half expecting that she would be a no show with the funds for the ticket and the extra $500 being her booty in fleecing a stupid American.

She was there, looking far more attractive than her pictures. She gave the $500 back that evening.

I have a credit card from MBNA.  They have an online feature called "shopsafe" where you can go online and get a temporary credit card number connected to your account.  I can go online and say "give me a credit card with a $200 limit that expires in three months" and I get a number.

Plus, I can cancel the number at any time.

I swear, this is the way to deal with all these idiots on the internet.  It has saved me a ton of grief.

You also have the option of simply disputing the charge through your CC company. It's one phone call, a short form to fill out, and particularly in the instance of an online charge (where porn site merchants have given the entire web subscription industry a very tarnished image), you'll get the charge erased and never hear from 'em again.

I used Absolute for about 6 months in 2003, and I did encounter a few scammers, but they were very amateurish (i.e., the infamous "NorthWest Agency" or people professing their undying love for me after 2 emails). My biggest complaint is that about 2/3 of the ads (my rough estimate) for beautiful women on the site are placed by agencies, who then want to hit you up for yet another fee for the opportunity to write to their client.

One final caveat (and this goes for the free sites such as http://www.freepersonals.ru/: The best-looking women are swamped with responses and if you're not dilegent to the point of near long-distance stalking, you'll lose touch with your woman.

It's been 2 years since I used them. I had no problems cancelling my account and my ad was aslo removed quickly when I wanted it to be. Just lucky I guess.
