Beware of her. Her birthday is also incorrect and she'll lie in a blink of the eye. She works with a fella from Italy it's told. Compare her ad from foreign affair.

I came across www.absoluteagency.com, it is one of those $20 pay-per-month hosting sites that amalgamates lists of profiles from other sites, where you can supposedly contact each woman directly by email through their site. So I gave it a try and emailed one of them (A4424335 Irina Antonova.) "She" actually responded, but told me not to use the email address she'd written from; instead I should go to www.dreaminglove.com, find her profile there (number 735,) and contact her through them instead. And by the way, she said, I would also then have the chance to write to many other girls too, (although she added that naturally she would rather I just wrote to her.) And guess what? If I wanted to write her through www.dreaminglove.com (or anyone else on that site) I would have to register. And pay up. Again.

I actually find some of the more imaginative scams quite amusing (if i am not on the receiving end), but this one is juvenile in its naivety and insults the intelligence. The distinction of the "Scammer" label" has to be earned with some crativity; come on, at least put some effort into it!!!!

I met a wonderful lady through Absolute. It is very common for Agencies to put some ladies on these sites to draw you to their site. It is not a scam. It is merely a way that they can get traffic to their business. I also had to switch and go to another agency after meeting this lady on Absolute. The problem that I had with Absolute was they kept charging my credit card even after I asked to terminate with them. I paid for two months more that I did not want.

I do not consider what you are referring to as a scam. The only agency guilty of anything is Absolute. They simply want volume in their data base of women to attract the low monthly fee and it works. And, as you said they do not care who is there --- so you bet they will have a their fair share of scammers on their site.

I used Absolute for a little while. Had terrible luck with the ladies that I picked to write to. Similar situations to yours and hit a couple of well documented scammers. However I didn't do so badly on the ladies that replied to my ad. Never did hook up with the women from there but became friends with a family from western Siberia because their daughter liked me. The problem with absolute is that they don't give a dam about who or what's on their website. Use at your own risk. After that I turned to free russian based websites. Less scammers amongst the ones who aren't seeking to leave Russia was my rational.

Hey Zink, from your post I understand you have some experience of this region. I have some interest in the city of Surgut, have you been there? What was your impression of the region, and how would you compare it with other parts of Russia or Ukraine?

Also how did you get out there? Are there any European airlines flying into that region, or is it necessary to fly with a local carrier? Any recommendations for accommodation?

My previous travels have taken me as far as Samara, but this (if it happens) will be the furthest afield that I have ventured so far.

Are you talking about the city Surgut north of Omsk?  (there is also a city by the same name west of the Urals).
I have flown into cities South East of there (Novosibirsk and Novokuznetsk) and have always flown Sibir Air out of Moscow (a real treat ;-) ).

I know Lufthansa does have flights into Novosibirsk and Omsk.  The problem is that the last time I looked into this these flights were only scheduled once or twice weekly.

A few years ago when I was in Anapa I met a guy from Surgut (north of Omsk).  He invited me to visit him and do some hunting.  Never did take him up on it....

I could only find one city by that name, the one north of Omsk (about 500 miles north)so I assumed this was her city. There was no reference to another Surgut on my map. I imagine the one north of Omsk is therefore bigger, and I do know of a charter airline which has a base there (the company is called "Kogalymavia" and they mostly fly Russian tourists to Mediterranean resorts in summer.

I had some dealings with one of their managers in the past, so I'm going to try and twist his arm for a ticket if they have any empty seats into Russia from somewhere in Spain or Greece, and then back out again.

Lufthansa sounds tempting but the destnations you mentioned would still leave 500 miles to cover, which probably means an internal flight or 24 hours on a train plus connection times. If I have to endure a take-off and landing on a Tupolev anyway, I guess the flight time in between is immaterial!

Thanks for your info, much appreciated. And the hunting trip sounds like it would have been quite an experience!

You are right that the Surgut west of the Urals is quite small.  In fact, I could not even find any population statistics for it.  It is a little northeast of Samara.  The only reason I know it exists is from doing a search on Expedia.com  This is an excellent resource for locating obscure towns and geographical points.  In fact I have looked up some tiny villages on occasion and it has always been able to locate them.  Just go to their home page and click on maps.

Here is another resource I like.  It provides population totals for most cities in Russia.  You can also link to population statistics from other countries.  Here is the link http://www.world-gazetteer.com/home.htm

Good luck on your trip.

That's good news. I did try the LH website, as I remember flying with them once to Samara, but nothing came up for Surgut; is this the airport they fly to, or is it another airport in the area?

The family is from Berdsk near Novosibirsk. But no, I never did travel there. In June I'm planning on going with my wife to visit her family in and around Omsk. I've been to Moscow, Volgograd, Sochi, and Vladivostok and some other cities near Vladivostok. Sorry, I can't help you with your question. Give me a few months and I might be able to tell you about Siberia. Each of the areas I've been to were quite different from the othes. Just look them up on a map and you'll see why. I don't have any Ukraine experience either because I focussed primarily on Russia(and yet married a part Ukranian lady!)

Thanks Zink. If I get out there I will post a trip report and we can compare notes. Any other readers out there been to that region? There are only 2 references to Surgut in the archives (which I now understand is actually Eastern Siberia, not western!) and there are far too many general references to Siberia to sift through!
