As we had all of our business out of the way, we went back to Eddies and were sitting there having a beer, when Rick recognizes one of the other customers. It is our friend Red. Red has been working on his new house in Tabuelan, and invited us up to see it. Tabuelan is on the NW part of Cebu island, about 2 1/2 hours away by bus. We BSed for about 2 hours, then we agreed to come up and see him on saturday afternoon.

Red left, and Rick went to see his penpal in Lapu-Lapu. I walked up into the Lahug area for something to do. A woman had been shot in this area in front of her 10 y.o. daughter the day I arrived in Cebu. Something to do with drugs is what the paper said. I wandered aimlessly down back alleys and trails. There are MANY people living in extreme poverty back here, although you would never know it driving by on the street. I got many strange looks and "Hey Joe!"s. I finally found a place to sit and have a beer, then hiked back to Eddies.

I took a nap, and awoke around 9 p.m. Rick was not back yet, so I hung around for awhile and had a few beers. About 11:00 I headed up to the Lone Star. I ordered a burger and a beer. (The Lone Star has the best burger I have found anywhere in the PI, for less than $2. Highly recommended)

Janie was there, and entertaining an older gentlerman. I just sat in the corner for a time watching. I noticed she didn't get real close to him like she did with me. He was buying her drinks left and right, in half hour she must have consumed 6 or 8 of them. Finally, Rick walked in, and joined me in the corner. He hadn't been there for long when Janie noticed us. She quickly abaondoned the other gentleman and came right over. I introduced her to Rick, and all was cool. Except, something wasn't.

She wouldn't pick her head up out of my lap. When I tried talking with her and lifting her head as I had to do before, she would just shake her head and put it back down in my lap. I don't know if she was ashamed because I had watched her with the other man, if she was embarrassed by Rick, if something else was bothering her, if it was her time of the month, or what her problem was. She wouldn't talk, or even look at me for over an hour. At one point, she told me she didn't feel well. I assured her that if I had consumed 8 or 10 of whatever kind of koolaid she was drinking, I would probably feel ill too.

Finally, Rick had been talking with another GRO, and was going to barfine her. He offered to pay for Janie as well. I asked her if she would like to join us. Now she REALLY looked ill!! She said she had to use the CR, and got up and left. Soon, she was up dancing, and looked all right. Then she went into the back and didn't come out. Rick left with his new honey, and I sat there for about a half hour. No Janie. Finally, I left. I was not to see her again.

I went back to Eddies and downed about 10 beers before crashing at 5 a.m.

but the rest sounds like a plan. Unsure when my next trip to emerald city will be, but I'll keep you in mind. If nothing else I'll probably come up for one of the upcoming maganak meets.  Larry.
