This might sound stupid (It does now that  think about it) but you know how people in Russia have this certain mark they use as their signature.  Well I have all my documents ready to go that I have got my girlfriend to sign last time I was in Russia and they all have this stupid mark on them not her spelled out name signature.  Is this going to be a problem?

Yes, it's true, the wife's signature looks nothing like her "real" name.  The only time we have trouble with it is at the bank.  Her paycheck is made out to her name, i.e., "Olga Smokinhotkova", and the endorsement has to reflect that name exactly as it is shown on the "pay to" line, then she signs her "squiggle" under that. So far they've always cashed the checks for her.

I always sign my checks with a 'squiggle' and never had a problem depositing/ cashing them.  NEVER in 13 years in this country (maybe the tellers don't pay too much attention to my signature Wink.  What I don't understand I guess about the American-style spelled out signature, is what's the point in having a signature in the first place if it can be easily read and copied by other people?

Well, I am originally from Russia, and ever since I moved here I used what you guys refer as 'the strange mark' on everything, including SS card, licence, passport, credit cards, etc.  Never had a problem!  Although some people did find it peculiar.  I guess it is a cultural diffence: in Russia people make their signature ineligible on purpose so that it will be more difficult to falsify it  by someone else.

Well, I knew that was coming Wink.  It's mainly personal preference for me: I am attracted more to brown-eyed tan-complected women than the tall blond type.  It's not at all that I think bad of RW.  Besides I have gone out with a few here in the US and in Moscow when I visit, but it felt weird, b/c me and them were too much alike.  But if you prefer women who are tall blond and fair-skinned, then you will definitely like RW Smiley

...I like 'em no matter what color they are, they're all pink on the inside Wink

Too much alike huh? Fair nuff, although I find that in itself to be an interesting comment. Feel free to jump in here if you have something to say in the future.

My wife just uses her "strange" squiggly mark on ALL our legal documents. When she changed her name to mine, she just changed her "strange" squiggly mark. We went round and round on this and I just let her have her way. To my knowledge, your "legal" signature is just that, not your name written out. For whta it's worth, we've never had any problems with it. It's "her" "signature"

I agree she gets all on the offense when I tried to tell her that it might be a problem...  I just give in at that point, it's her show.  I will stand by and give her support....

Like was suggested, I had to explain to my wife that she needed to Sign her NAME to everything from now on. We also have to go over the fact that you always put the first name FIRST and then the last name. That is, unless it specifically says to use last name first.

However, when we did the Embassy papers, she did use her squiggly mark.
