My wife comes from Ukraine but her father is Russian and her grandparents on her mother's side is Belorussian.  The soviets tried to homogenize things as much as possible and therefore transplanted Russians throughout the former soviet union.

The only difference I have observed is that Ukrainian girls tend to be a little more domestic than than their Russian sisters and the Russian dialect is a little differents similar to English spoken in New England as oppossed to the Midwest.

My advise is to look everywhere (Ukraine, Russia, Kazakastan, etc.) and find the girl that you most have a connection with.  For me, I found my sweet Anichka, in Krivoy Rog. Most of the girls in the big cities have been disappointed by idiots from the west who promise they will come to see them and then stop writing so they can be rather pessimistic.

Good Luck!

I doubt there is much difference at all in the women.

If you are traveling the difference is it is easier or less hassle to obtain a tourist visa to ukkraine, as you do not need to register it as in russia.

also a business visa good for 3 to 5 years and for multiple entry is also fairly easy to get to ukraine.
you will be going on more tha one trip eh?
perhapstrips back to visit the *family* even a couple years after marragie?

so ukraine is a bit less hassle visa wise.

*****
also DCF (direct consoulaer filing) is also avaiable fopr ukrainian citizens.so if you marry there. you may file directly with the US consulate in warsaw or thru the kiev consulate the I 130 petition for alian relative/spuse.

and avoid the BCIS nightmares of filing stateside.

This is not available to a russian spouse.
****
if you go fiancee visa you file here by BCIS but her interview will be in kiev,(recent developement) fairly convenient for most any ukrainian.
*********

belarus also has DCF filing in the US consulate in warsaw.
and perhaps som eother FSU countries? might want to look deeper than just
UW vs RW for the filing differences as it may make
paperwork life easier with a ;lithiunian, czech ,latvian, belorussian?

of course it shouldnt be a factor in whom you choose to marry!! lol
but if you have no real preference on where to start your search it might point you to a city or destination of interest and also ease of documents process.
*shrugs*

No difference between the two, any regional differences have long since been scrambled in the great melting pot of the Soviet Union. I've heard that the general standard of living and opportunities in Moscow and St Petersburg are rather better than can be found elsewhere in Russia, or anywhere in Ukraine. Whether or not that affects the attitude of women there is open to debate. I have also heard that the embassy consulates of some western countries look differently on applications from Russians than Ukrainians.

Although it's been a while since I was in Russia, my recollection is that it was slightly more complicated (and more expensive) to get a visa for me to enter the country.

...very little difference, although I'm partial to Ukrainains. Does it really matter? They're all pink on the inside. I'm assuming your question is culturally based. If so, women are women everywhere and the notion a woman's culture (FSU or not) is a decisive factor in her quality as a mate is one of the most overblown myths in MOB. Besides, in this case there is very little cultural difference. There are arguably good reasons to seek a mate abroad but culture should not be high on the list.

I completely disagree with you on that.  I would place culture as one of the highest reasons on the list.  It seems that the most prevalent (actual) reason is to get a much younger and attractive woman than possible here.  I'd place that at the bottom myself.

I don't buy off on much of the agency hype.  You're not likely to find a woman who's only goal in life is to be a loving, obediant little servant and doesn't care about your age, looks, or income.  "They just don't want a drunk who comes home and beats them" is the typical hype.

I noticed a marked difference between Mexican and American women after dating a Mexican years ago and getting to know many of her family and friends.  There's going to be a broad range of values among women from any country, but I think there's tendencies that make the odds of finding what you're after much better if you go to the right place.  That's why I ultimately decided to look to a Latin country for a woman when I was ready to settle down again.

Unfortunately, I think American culture is rapidly spreading throughout the world.

the main difference is how far they live from the border! Smiley
there's really no correct answer for this one IMO

What happens when you cross the border between Kansas and Nebraska?  Nothing much changes.  Many people in eastern Ukraine have strong Russian connections in their heritage.  Many people in western Ukraine have strong Polish connections in their heritage.  This is mostly explained by the shifting borders in those areas since WWII and by the  practice during soviet times of moving ethnic Russians into 'occupied areas.'  The same exists in the Baltic countries.

Particularly in Crimea, there are more ethnic Russians in the total population than there are Ukrainians.

Also, there are many intermarriages, so by corresponding to women in Ukraine, you don't really know their complete ethnic background.  And, as I suggest in first sentence, it really doesn't make any difference.
