Author Topic: Future war...Russian nations' involvement?  (Read 8662 times)

In 1979, were I the president, I would have asked congress to declare war on Iran.
Seize our embassy will they?

It wasn't to be. First they should get to have atomic weapons to make it a fairer fight.
North Korea is announcing a garage sale concerning this.

At about (or before) that time, my attention had been directed to the 38th and 39th chapters of Old Testament Ezekiel. If those pieces of future-puzzle aren't falling into place before our eyes, then I must be really dumb.

Lybia, as mentioned, is what the ancients called north Africa.
Persia of course, is Iran and Iraq.

The Kremlin will be drawn into this  want to or not ("..hooks in the jaws")

Following this brief but earth shaking war, the Israelies will tear down that dome of the rock pagan mosque and build their Temple (Ez-chpt 40).

I don't know how you all feel about Dake but I remember someone told me about 10 years ago that he was the ONLY one of the prophetic guy who had it right about USSR falling apart & about the Berlin wall coming down. For the likes of me I do not remember. I will go look into it & post later on this & try to use scripture & verse.

The Dake websites are mostly book promotion.
Do we really need more "end time" authors? If these are indeed the end times, why do they need all this retirement money?

... in response to Future war...Russian nations' involvemen..., posted by tfcrew on Jul 21, 2003

Crewman,

Although it may play out that the Rus
play a role in the Gog led invasion,
it is not a scripturally sound interpretation.
During the Cold War
some Western theologians proclaimed Russia the
land of Magog. It is poor - really nonexistant
scholarship. I am amazed at how many otherwise
credible and great Christian leaders jumped on this
bandwagon.

Asia Minor is the place where Magog, Meshech,
and Tubal (Noah's grandsons) settled after the Flood.

This is a very deep subject, one which I have spent
a lot of time researching on multiple occassions since
my teenage years. Suffice to say that the event certainly
will come to pass and there will be a lot of nations
involved. The Arab and Muslim nations obviously will be
involved because, as you point out, they are listed
by name. But it is not clear just from Ezekiel who "Gog of the land of Magog" is. My opinion is that this is Turkey, not Russia. Turkey is on the verge of a fundamentalist Muslim revolution...the interesting question is: What is it that happens that is so significant that it emboldens all of the nations referred to in Ez. 38 to launch a full scale invasion of Israel?

Until that event happens the United States of America, and eventually an international community, will be.....rebuilding Babylon. Interesting, huh?

Regards from the SE.

..to "lead" an  invasion of the middle east. Their role, though, will surely be an active one.
Noah's decendents migrated around no doubt.
Tubal sure does sound like Tobolsk to me.
The Islamic community is more than eager to "remove" Israel totally from the picture based on pure hatred  of the Jews.
This is their common goal.

Crew,

The question is not who has the "clout" but where is the "land of Magog".

To say "Tubal sounds like Tobolsk" is the exact sort of
non-academic, unsound "scholarship" that I was referring
to previously.

Do some internet searches and you will eventually find
good scholarship.

Yes, the Muslims hate the Jews. As you know, the one who goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour
wants total control of the Holy City. Ain't going to happen Smiley

Regards!

38:15 "..from the north parts.." That's all it says.
Now Moscow, (Meshech?) in Russia (Rosh?) is exactly due north of Jerusalem.
Note the question marks! This could be way off.
I have searched the studies everywhere I could.
Some site writers suggest that the Ezekiel Gog and Magog scenario is the same one described in Rev 20. I see too many differences in substance. God is against Gog because Gog is against God...that didn't (doesn't) change.
Any related links are always, as before, appreciated.

... in response to North..., posted by tfcrew on Jul 22, 2003

Crew,

Admittedly, my view is a minority view amongst
eschatologists, although I am adamant that it is
a much more *scholorly* view than the majority one.

Here is a link to one of the best short works on
the minority view: biblicalstudiesdotcom/bstudy/eschatology/ezekiel.htm

This article goes into more detail concerning the problems with trying to use modern English word similarity, assumptions, geography, nation lineage, etc.

Now, that having been said, I can honestly say that I can
make a better case that the FSU *is* the land of Magog
than any of the the majority view holders. My problem is their near universal *lack* of scholarship - both Biblical and extra Biblical, to back their conclusions. Yes, it may turn out that the East Slavs lead the alliance...

Best regards!

A long, long time ago in another lifetime I was teaching a class in Economic History at the University of Oklahoma.  Questions had drawn the lecture off topic to a discussion of religious interpretations of history.  Out of curiosity I asked if anyone knew which world religion had the most adherents.

A bouffant blond in the front row raised her hand enthusiastically and said, "Southern Baptist."

Gog even in Russian is гог which is to say... Gog (grandson of Noah).
You would think the Pope or President Bush would be on top of these prophecys. A Palistinian State will/can never happen.
That was funny (about the blond).
A night club ventriloquest was doing a blond joke routine that was cracking everybody up. Finally a blond haired gal jumps up crying tears. "I'm sick and tired of all these  dumb blond cut downs" she bawled. Feeling a bit badly, the ventriloquest started to make an apology to the woman...that there was nothing personal..when she interrupted..."I'm not talking to you sir...I'm talking to that little pri@k sitting in your lap".

The southern Asian states of the former FSU are all Muslims, the most radical being Turkmenistan. I have no doubt that these nations will join any war against Israel. I am not too sure about Russia as they have their hands    full fighting Muslim fundamentalists in Chechnya and there is growing anti-Muslim sentiments due to the recent suicide bombings in Moscow. Ezekiel does mention that the invading armies will be wiped out by a nuclear strike.

Here an interesting article on Noah's ark

Not a nuclear strike. The Lord himself will
destroy the invading force in supernatural and
miraculous fashion in such a way that there can
be no doubt to the whole world
that the LORD God Israel is the Lord. See Ez. 38: 21-23; 39: 3-6.

Ez 38: vs 21 & 22.
I think "...all my mountains" would best be translated Israel and her allies.
This jihad thing will become as a boil that needs lancing once and for all.
Concerning Chechnya, a little region about 100 miles in diameter, I find very little info on the search engines.
The Russians have not been very merciful to the people or their cause (what is their cause?)....
