I know this isn't really related to finding a foreign gal, but she is from ukraine. I'm trying to build a network of friends who will sign up on upromise.com to help pay my wife's student loans off. You don't have to donate any money, all you do is sign up and register your debit card/credit card or even just your grocery savings card and whenever you buy certain products or eat out at participating restaurants an amount automatically goes into her student loan account. If anyone would like to help out, shoot me an email and i'll explain more and send you the link.

not that this helps ease anyones mind but it was started by Senator Bill Bradley....maybe that'll really scare people off! hehe!
anyway, if I fill up at mobil or exxon she get's 1 penny per gallon, stuff like that. it's a real small % but if we got enough people it would work out.
I'd should've known better than to post it here, as paranoid as most you guys are...

It's not such a crazy idea: I've linked my credit card to the college account for one of my friend's children.  Doesn't cost me anything and it might help her children or grand children.

(I don't have kids of my own yet.)

By the way, I do believe someone bought the London Bridge and moved it to Arizona!

If I buy the bridge can I collect tolls?

Seriously, lots of colleges and charities are offering the same deal.  Use a Visa or a MC and they, the charities, get pennies from every transaction.

I use a card that gives me frequent flyer miles and hotel credits so I can promote world peace via love in the FSU.
That is the charity closest to my heart.

I still get the cashback bonus on my credit card.  There are/were a couple of sites (I don't have the urls) that if you stopped there then went shopping on the internet at certain places a certain (small) percentage of the purchase. It makes no difference to me - I'm making the purchases anyway and it does not cost me more.

I think that you should could a second or third job to pay off the debt.  This is Your responsibily and no one elses.  I have put two children through private universities without asking anyone else for their help.  I have worked two jobs and a lot of overtime so that they would not have college debt.  You can do the same and clean up the debt, and not be asking everyone to do it for you.

Yo, Beatledog!

I agree with you that ones debts are ones own responsibility.  However, I would like to point to you that:

1) I am not the one seeking help to pay off my debts
2) Why shouldn't I help a good friend out - especially when it doesn't cost me anything either.  (By the way, she's not taking out any debt to pay for her children's college expenses either.

Perhaps this wasn't directed at me, but I took it that way since it was posted in response to my post.

MY card offers a cash refund as well as frequent flyer credits.  I found that the miles were the best value.  If I had the time to keep hunting for cheaper air fares I might have done better with the cash.  Only down side was I could not use credits for business class only tourist seats.

Now I have an airline VISA card which lets my get a business class ticket.  When I compare the price of business class divided by the mile credit to get one versus the credits for a tourist class ticket the B class is the best value by far.
