Hi Everyone,

I have never posted on this board before and very sparsely on the the Latin board. But I have a story that I am wondering if anyone has ever experienced before.

About 3 years back I posted an ad with my pic on starmatch.com. Nobody had ever responded to it till about a month ago some woman stating that she was from Illinois and I wrote back asking for a pic. Turns out she was from Russia and her name was Svetlana. So we have been trading mails for about a month and on Saturday another woman responded to the same ad stating she was from Canada but again it turns she is from Russia different woman named Maria from different city (I think).

But the same basic thing the both used emails from the same website. That website www.kengu.com. I had told Svetlana that I would probably not be interested in traveling to Russia and I was only interested in being online friends with her but she just seemed to ignore this. I have asked Maria right up front as why I a suddenly hearing from Russian woman all ofa sudden. She hasnt had time to respond to me yet. Can anyone tell me whats going on here ?

you really have no idea who you are hearing from.  Too many lies.  Could be fat Yuri out to make a couple bucks off you and a hundred other guys. Its just a numbers game...a small percentage bite on the bait. It smells.  Don't waste your time.  Anyway, no decent Russian lady is going to start lying to you at the get-go about what country, what continent she lives on.

Something similar happened to me this week and there's no doubt it was a scam attempt.  Last week one of our board members suggested some free introduction sites.  One of them was called "freedating.ru" and the other was "freepersonals.ru."  On one of these sites, I answered a woman named Oleysa Y.'s ad and before I received an e-mail back from her, another woman named Julia Slepukhina wrote to me.  The next day Oleysa sent me a letter--not too different from Julia's letter.  Both women claimed to be from Lugansk--a city with a reputation for scammers.  Anyway, after a few nice letters and photos from each of them , I received an e-mail from a woman calling herself Eva Nechaeva, from the Karoline Agency, who said the girls were no longer in the free service and for them to continue writing me for the next month it would cost $250.  Eva gave me about 5 different acccounts where I could forward the money.  I wrote back and asked her if she could offer me a discount --3 months for $600. She loved the idea.  I sent them a fake Western Union number and now I noticed Oleysa has vanished from the "free" site.  Looks like you get what you pay for.

If they hadn't both lied to you in their very first post, I'd give them 50/50, but the orginal lie moves them to 100% scam. Keep corresponding and see what happens 1) but now you have to pay a fee to join my agency for us to continue this correspondance b) I love you SO much, help me with the travel expenses to come see you c) the old 'mom needs an operation' routine.

Have you actually carried on a conversation with either of these women? What I mean is do they answer questions you ask and comment on the answers you give to theirs?  Or do they seem to ignore what you have said and talk about totally other things?  (It is possible they might even insult you slightly to keep you on the defensive and from realizing they are not answering your questions, saying things like "you have not answered my last questions even though I asked nicely, perhaps this is why other relationships of yours have not worked out it the past".)  If this is the case then it is very likely that you are being sent pre-written letters that give the impression you are getting to know someone when all along you were being manipulated to a point where they ask for money for some emergency or request money for translations etc.

I think the unlikely coincidence of two women from Russia writing at the same time suggests you are being set up.
