What version of WebTV are you using?  Did you start having the problem after upgrading?  Did you just get WebTV for the first time recently and have had the problem from the start?

One other question-  Do you see a blue background with yellow link text on the left side of the main board window (not the message file your reading now, but the main board where all the message titles show up)?

I've owned Webtv.net since joining PL back in 1999. Remember when you banned Webtv and other servers becuz of the Plm with Stu? You know Stu used Webtv. Anyway before the Ban, Webtv server was working fine with Planet-Love. I started experiencing plm a few days  after you upgraded and allowed Webtv server back on PL(over a year ago?). The only problem is with the threads, the threads all stay in black letters and white background on main message(posting) boards, otherwise nothing wrong. Before, the thread letters were blue, then changed to black after reading. Now after reading message posts that are in black letters, stays in black letters... Thanks, greg

or maybe a cheap "real" computer?

couple of hundred bucks will get you a half-way decent used 200-300mhz pentium system and you won't have no webtv issues to deal with anymore.

just a thought.

Sorry, I'm being an @hole tonight.

Can you tell me more about setting up my own Computer? Will use mostly for internet surfing. Been using Webtv since it arrived on market. Very frustrating setup. Pay $25 monthly service charges. Thanks, greg

or look in the local "cheapie" nickle trader.  There's lots of locals everywhere that deal in this sort of thing (used systems) for a couple of hundred bucks up front, and for about 20 bucks a month, you can get reasonable internet access, (which they'll help you set up), and cruise to your hearts content, copy and paste like a bandit too.

... in response to Go to a pawn shop,, posted by BrianN on Apr 5, 2002

Two months ago, I picked up an ibm thinkpad 266 laptop for only 325.  Complete with cd drive, modem, and all from my pawn shop buddy.

Great little system.  Unfortunately for me, my son almost "owns" it now, and enjoys surfing with it better than the 200.00 300mhz desktop system on the home network with a 17" screen.  Go figure.
