Warsaw finally sent my fiancee her OF-169 and other assorted papers. Well guess what? The case number they wrote on her papers is completely different from the number BCIS gave me. In fact, the number from Warsaw has one less digit! Both numbers begin with WRW and 2003 and ARE case numbers. Weird! Got to be a screw up. I am guessing this will set us back several weeks, but maybe that's the worst case scenario.

We now have three totally different case numbers. And I was getting excited when we got the second one.

I called Warsaw last night-- four days after faxing them with the OF-169. It was explained to me that they receive the info from BCIS without a case number, so they assign their own. In my case they went overboard. Anyway, they can look you up by your fiancee's name and DOB, so they said the case number isn't that important.

When I called, they asked me if I wanted to schedule an interview. So her interview is one month from today. I thought that was pretty cool. They will send my fiancee a letter about this next week.

So apparently it is routine to have different case numbers, and it isn't a big deal.

One other thing, the person I spoke with at the embassy also confirmed that even now it is possible for fiancees to have their interview in Kiev, instead of Warsaw. In fact, we were given the option. We declined because the lady I spoke with said that all our documents are in Warsaw and maybe we shouldn't take the chance of people misplacing records by sending them to Ukraine.

Believe me..
The nuances of the process become foggy as time rolls on and your bride has become a veteran of running your house.
As I recall, the NOA approval has an alien number assigned to the prospective spouse.
I never saw my wife's "OF-169". No doubt it's presently at the Texas Service Center.
As Dan's below post briefly reflects, copying documents can be almost nauseating but it's the ones you don't have that you wish you did.
