I would be very interested in Mexico. I called once to MExico to find out but Mexicans are very incompetent & they hung up & couldn't answer me.

Hungary and Cyprus are candidates to meet yours with no problem, as is Egypt, and Turkey that you mentioned.  For more exotic fare, try India or Sri Lanka.  If she were to get a "Shengen" visa, this opens up much of Western Europe.  The UK (of which Scotland is part of) would be difficult to impossible.  Ireland is easier, but only slightly...as you sometimes don't go through immigration checks between Ireland and UK.

If it's a first visit between both of you, I'd suggest Budapest.

An Irish (Eire, Irish republic) visa is good for United Kingdom, and a United Kingdom visa is good for Ireland with or without checking.

I don't think Ireland is an easy back door into England though!

Your squeeze will know.  If not any FSU travel agent will.   However, it is a "blanket visa" which costs $200-300 which covers Scandinavia, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, and maybe a few others...which should give you a few choices.  She may need to show a return ticket in advance, so the Western European countries she is applying to, know she has the means and probability of returning to FSU.  I would normally send a ticket paid by my credit card, for her to pick up where she lives, plus some Western Union funds for lunches, taxis, a day room in Moscow if necessary, etc.  Works for me!

Good luck.

Honoured by all countries of the Shengen arrangement, but they each have different criteria for issuing the visa, worth checking for the easiest.
