Probably because Tatu is pop and Bering Strait is bluegrass.  Even tho Bering Strait won a Grammy, pop and two hot chicks (playing to be lesbos) will always get more attention.  Tatu has a pictorial in May's Maxim and were recently on Jay Leno.  They did a bit where they wrote something in Russian on Jay's arm and everyone had a good laugh.  What they wrote translated to "f*** the war".

Regarding the latter: these Russian kids - who love AC-DC & Hank Sr - won a Grammy?

I've never heard of Bering Strait either. On the other hand Tatu is now becoming popular in Canada because they're singing in English. The Russian lesbian thing is a good draw. They're new and kind of novel. I didn't notice that they were popular with any of my Russian friends but everyone there knew who they were.

the album isn't that sound; that is, if you prefer an old-school country sound - as I do. However, they had a very heart-warming 'documentary' on CMT. Rough go in America, including - the American gent losing his home - on taking a chance on them, etc. As Ken (maybe - kinda) said, the video was rather special, indeed.

The album, however, is lacking - sans: Guitars... Cadilac...

Tatu's song "All the things she said" has been on Australian singles' chart as high as No.2 for several weeks (as far as I know but again I do not follow the music charts so close:-)). Not sure how it is doing now but Tatu has just released their English CD album Australia. Judging from the frequency of being played on radio here, they are not doing too bad.

Funny thing, I knew about Tatu for quite a while as my wife loves their music, she has downloaded heaps of their songs (in Russian of course)from Internet.  I remember when I heard the English version for the first time: we were driving a car, listening to the Russian version of Tatu on tape, then switched to the radio and there was a Tatu's (above mentioned) English song! I remember it very well, it was one of those memorable coincidences - my wife was shocked - at first she thought we were still listening to the tape....

I have to say I do not dislike them at all - they sound refreshingly new, dynamic; when I hear any of theuir songs I am not bored (I do not know how to describe it better).
