If your FSU wives, fiancees, and lady friends are trained nurses with good English language skills, here in Albany, NY, a new program, The International Center for Nursing, may be able to help them with INS and to be licensed and to find work.

As you know, I am sure, there is a world wide shortage of nurses.  Especially acute here in USA.

This Center will also recruit foreign students to study nursing here in USA.  Unfortunately, for us, they will encourage the students to return to their native lands after they have completed their training.

I am intimately involved with the program above, so if your fiance qualifies please contact me and I will do what I can to help her get through the system.

... in response to hey! Ukraine is not on the list? -- n/t, posted by vagn on Apr 9, 2003

I never looked into why certain Eastern European countries are on the list and others are not - however, if you have a candidate email me and I'll talk with Jack (sorry, different Jack - Jack Dehovitz) personally about her - which will definitely help.  I a have a feeling there might be a provision which would enable young Ukrainian scientific / health professional types to train here as well - unless it is some higher government block - which I could not help with at all.

That is terrific.

I just heard about the "Center" on WAMC.

Are you located in the Capital District?

No, I am at the Brooklyn Center - the grant is co-administrated.

I guess if you know a girl in this area, she could apply for the program and be here in the US for you to get to know better, as long as you can get to her on weekends, holidays etc.  The Russians are only here for varied periods of time to get training in the particular programs mentioned above, but it is alot easier for you to get to know your girl well here prior to making the committment to marry her, provided of course she qualifies.
