I shudder to think I probably would have shot one of these women about 10 years or more ago. They wouldn't have hesitated to kill me as well.

Saw a three minutes report on this on CBC.
The girls had fingernails an inch and half long.
It is a stunt publicity wise, so that guys enlist in the army.
This what I understood.

Cultural angles, might show benevolence upon ya - CW!

Nothing sexier - than a pretty gal with a gun.

NKVD, or not!

There was some Russian woman in WWII, her name was Pavlachinko (forgive the spelling) who was a snipper and was credited with over 300 kills of german soldiers. Woody Guthrie wrote a song about her and I think they brought her to the US for a War Bond selling tour. That's all I know about her, but wouldn't mind learning more, anybody familiar with her history?

the Soviet #'s, were vastly inflated - in defeat or victory.

Considering the 15+ to 1 -kill-ratio (German vs Russian), in the 'Eastern conflict'; I shant give much credence to such Bolshevik propaganda, at all. The Wehrmacht #'s, were accurate, to the point of foolishness (vastly superior to: American, Brittish, Soviet, French & Japanes...).

Despite Woody G's egalitarian lament: slumber provides better dreams, at least, in the reality of the 2nd WW.

For fables...

I'll take Aesop, anyday.

Thanks for the info, Cold Warrior and Mike.

UPDATE: Now that you have spelled the name correctly for me, I was actually able to find a picture of her, see http://www.vrouwengeschiedenis.nl/nl/weken/2002/week19.html (don't think she would have won the beauty contest)
