Patrick - I hope you are not planning to segregate the board members like that "band of fools" on another FSU board are.

I'm not sure what you mean by segregate, though I have considered at times making a function where certain individuals would not be able to reply to other individuals posts to cut down on flame wars when user X and user Y hate each other.  I doubt that I would resort to even that though unless the flame wars increase beyond my tolerance to hit the delete key.

Patrick-  The reason your board has the most hits, readers and posters is because of your tolerance.  I appreciate it greatly.

Patrick,

Spencer, at RWG, has instituted a specific category, something called: "Band of Brothers" in an exclusive forum ( of what seems to be 18 folks, at this point), where as, only those individuals might communicate with each other.

It appears to be rather "ex/in"clusive, hence the comments, I imagine.

Sounds elitist to me, as well.

Burke - so far I can not get anyone on that board to admit to being one of the "band of criminals."

... in response to Knicks & Hawks - both stink, posted by Bobby Orr on Jan 31, 2003

Orr = Bostonian puck god. Yet, your a  NY Ranger fan. sorry...

Orr(Bruin-Boston) = Hull(Blackhawk-Chicago) I hate Basketball- unless were talkin' College B-B, & my Cardinal victory last night!!!!!

Any puck stories, in the FSU?

Any time I mention "puck," the Russian gals get proud! *smile*

As to the rationale behind the, "Magnificent 18," it seems rather counter-productive.

Cheers,

ps. You had my baseball teams' city correct, however. It's an old Hank/Eddie/Mil... thang. Now.... get your eyes of Maddox. Or... I'll make Tommy G. pick up his skates... & become a 4th round KING, again. LOL

Although I am a life long NY Ranger fan (unfortunately) I do respect all hockey players and teams.  I just think Bobby Orr was the best - so its my second name on this board.  I also respect great teams.  I grew up in Suffolk county, Long Island and watched great New York Islander teams.  As far as I am concerned they were the best teams I have ever seen, including all the great Bruin, Canadien and Oiler teams of the past thirty-five years.  Atlanta does have a rising hockey team for sure.  They have a Russian star named Kovalachuk who, barring injury, may be the best in the world in a few years.  Atlanta now has a first class coach who somehow got away from Colorado.  They kicked the crud out of the over-priced Rangers two games (in between Washington kicked the crud out of the Rangers) cauing their coach to be fired.

Anyway, anytime you are on a train or out on the street and happen to have conversation with Russian men start talking about hockey and the next thing you know you will have a ton to talk about.  First it will be about Russian players in the NHL, then NHL teams, then the state of Russian hockey, then retired great Russian players.  Then when they and I tried to play when we were younger.  Then they gave me advice on Russian women etc. I was on a train from Moscow to St. Petersburg.  Two guys were accross from me.  They were just drinking talking to each other.  They said hello and realized I was a foreigner and could not speak well.  I say "What do you guys think of Pittsburgh swiping Kovalev from the Rangers," and all of a sudden its straight hockey for two hours in a combination of broken Russian and broken English.  My girl and translator just left the car to go to the bathroom, grab a snack etc. - no need to concentrate on the girl, I broke off with her for other reasons (her kid, couldn't ultimately trust her).  Thats when the more serious talk about RW starts.

Another time I was in Kharkov, Ukraine looking at the impressive statue of Lenin in that impressive square.  The next thing I know a guy from Lugansk starts talking to me, realizes I am a foreigner, asks where I am from and I say New York.  The next thing he says is the Rangers really suck.  I agree and we go on to talk about the Red-Wings.  Both of us decided they were two old to win the Stanley Cup - but the Wings proved both of us wrong.

Give the Hawks a few years and I suspect they will be a really strong team.  That is if they decide to keep growing with their young players and not sell out for old players in the twilight of their careers like the Rangers.

The Wings will do it again this year too. I have a buddy who's boat is docked across from Fedorov's. He enjoyed the summer Anna Kornikova spent (bikini clad) with Fedorov!! Talk about a "rockin boat"!
