Just some feedback regarding my in-laws two week visit.  First of all they were a pleasure to have as house guests.  Russians seem to have a good habit of chipping in to make their stay as painless as possible.  Lena's parents assumed the positions of "family members" instead of "guests" immediately upon their arrival.  It is not easy to add two more people to a household without feeling a bit cramped, but they manage to so with ease.  Our current home isn't very big, but their visit never taxed our patience in any way.  I guess Russians have an inborn instinct on how to not intrude on each others "space" from living in smallish flats.  (Our new home that is under construction will be much more guest friendly)

Lena's Mom had been here before, but her Dad had never been out of the country before.  In many ways he acted like a little boy with wide eyed amazement of his new experience.  Entertaining our Russian visitors was rather easy as they appreciated the more simple things in life and it wasn't necessary to spend tons of money to make them happy.  A walk on the beach, a scenic drive along the ocean or just admiring a view of the mountains were much more impressive to them than dining at an expensive restaurant.  Of course it helps to live in a tourist friendly city like San Diego.  Trips to Beverly Hills and Las Vegas were canceled in favor of a more relaxing and more simple pleasures.  The biggest "hits" with them were visits to a vineyard in the local wine region and a trip to Palm Springs via the mountain route.  Of course my greatest pleasure was to see Lena so happy and proud to serve as their tour guide and interpreter.

Great Ken,

I am sure that your wife feels like she has everything she could want with her man on one hand, and her parents on the other. I am really happy for you, and thanks for the insights.

I'll bet they were fascinated with our California "winter" the past week or so. I've been using the air conditioning more the past month than last July.

Ken

I guess seeing you and Lena "on site" is a great reassurance for them. I have moved about 8 times in the past 10 years and my parents always worry about me until they come to visit LOL. They sound like great folks. I always thought the best things in life are free - walk on the beach, trip to mountains etc.
