Novi Svet is an out of the way place that is very beautiful. All of the cosmonauts where sent there for vacation after their flights. It's next to Sudak. I agree that Khersones is awsome too. Foros is where Kuchma and Putin vacation,, beautiful but I don't know what's near by for accomodations. And I agree w/Dan that Eugene would be a good local conact. If your into hiking and the weather is good, Mangoop Kale is worth a day trip, if you've got the time and enjoy ancient ruins.

I would echo Dan's comments regarding the Crimea.  It's not overly populated, and if you're there for 3 weeks there are some great places:  Yalta (great night life, good beaches, lots of places of interest), Sevastopol - very historical and beautiful, Alushta also has very nice beaches and not many people.  I am told that Feodosia is nice but have not been there.  I would enjoy them all, they're not far from each other.

Are you intending to visit? The most popular Ukrainian destinations are Odesa and Crimea. If Crimea - then I highly recommend the Khersones Museum near Sevastopol. It is a major archaeological site and is open to the public for sight-seeing. The edges of the 'museum' ("archaeological site" is a more appropriate description) have the Black Sea lapping onto it - and the history and beauty of the setting is quite spectacular indeed.

Eugene will take good care of you. I used him two years ago and was truely amazed with the time and effort that he put forth to make our trip one that we will cherish forever. This guy goes way beyond all expectations of a driver/guide. He showed up every day that we used him for tours or transportation back and forth from the train with flowers for me "to present" to my beloved. He can make arrangements for nice  flat in Simiez (beautiful little town near Yalta) for a VERY reasonable price.
