... in response to Speakin of soaps......, posted by LP on Jan 23, 2003

Jeez, LP. I am not Yoe, you can use simple english words talking to me. Now I have to dig out dictionary to look up "podunk". Hubby is working tonight so I can not ask for some smart-@$$ comment to answer your C-R-A-F question either and then pretend I thought about it myself Smiley LOL

he is doing great. Flying with Alaska and loving it. Of course he has to stick to the profession rules and complain about working too many hours and all that kind of staff, but I have been suspecting for a long time now that for him it is like doing his hobby and getting paid. He loves it. They actually started new routes now, have hired another 100+ pilots and started new classes, so it's good to see his seniority go up and get better schedules.

So how's married life? Can't believe you actually pulled the trigger... May be you are not really that bad after all.... Smiley

...not married, you need to keep up on this stuff. ;-) I'll never pull that trigger as long as the gun could blow up in my face. Besides, I have it all without the license, kinda like a learners permit.

Good for him, I know the feeling. He's on a -800 right? Gettin paid to do something you love is a sweet deal, even if the biz is a mess these days. You're right, we all complain but most of us wouldn't leave until we had to. And that da*n number is everything. Live or die by it, no other profession is as strange. Lol, maybe I'll amble on over there if they have a need for one of the best.

CRAF is when the gum'mint hijacks some of the airlines for military use, they need more equipment and crews than the Air Force can provide in time of war to ferry people and gear. It can get dicey but it's usually more of an adventure than anything else. Fwiw, Alaska will likely not be involved because of their route structure.

And you're right: I'm not really that bad. I wish you both continued luck. Tell him he's the one who has it good, but he probally already knows that. ;-)

... in response to Sorry....., posted by LP on Jan 23, 2003

....... Hey LP, chuck your boots in the bag and getter over here. Your boys who drive Elvis for us, the one with the big orange water bag hanging at 100 yards, pulled the pin on us yesterday. They lost VMC and sat in the Pub all day, refused to be a part. What are they?  P...... ? But sounds like you might have to bring your own Insts! LOL  As from today it looks like we have two fronts, one abroad and one in our Capital. So if you can find a squadron of Pawnees (anythings better than Elvis parked by the Pub) send Em over. The only thing they can make is another a hole, its already Smokin.
Stick with it, best wishes, my prayers are with you should you be seconded Mate.

...mate, thats a tough call. They ain't puzzies to begin with, you gotta be nuts to do that kinda work. Even when it's VMC it's often IMC. Thanx for the kind words. I've been watchin the fight and good luck to you folks down there.

Funny you should mention the Pawnee. I often use one for towing stuff because it's great fun and gets me back to  basics. We'll see about Iraq. If we spank Sadam it's gonna get real busy because lots of our guys are reservists. Heavy iron during the week, blowtorch and helmet on the weekends. Hey, I envy them. Until someone starts shootin at ya it's a pretty sweet deal.

I am working on that training program...Smiley Need to take it slow though, I am not very good with shock therapy...

Naah, we are still doing pretty good. We got another fixer-upper house (what was I thinking?), so that keeps him busy. Have to do something with his ego though, each time after he reads the stories here, he marches around the house with proud look on his face "you see how good you have it" Smiley

.... For many it's the same craving for attention and lack of confidence they had when they were alone. After all, many of the conceptions about MOB guys have a ring of truth. Our premier example of this shows exactly this type of bravado by constantly trying to convince us how well he "did". The irony is that on one side he did pretty poorly while on the other he did well, considering no domestic chick would tolerate him. Some others have an interest in helping those still involved but in my opinion many still have head problems a MOB wife couldn't fix. No surprise there. As for me, I only work 26 weeks a year so I can screw around here often. Besides, it's kinda entertaining to hassle some of these guys.

....Yoey and I are about as far apart as Barry's God could make us. (Hi Barry, long time no hear.) Lol, we're also close together in many ways, a fact I loose much sleep over. I'm just a little abrupt at times to those who give me grief and I look at things in a different way. I ain't here to make friends anyway. Btw, I was refering to the 26 weeks I'm not home, that involves lots of time spent in hotels. Unfortunately I can't drink that time away so it's easy to pop in when I'm doing other work and see who needs some gentle prodding. ;-)
