My Russian wife loves it here in California and has no immediate plans to travel back to Moscow...especially in the winter. She does plan to send her son home every summer when he is old enough to travel alone so that he can remember his roots and she can have a rest from him....and we can take some extended vacations...alone.
My wife does call home every weekend, and emails friends almost daily.
Ironically our phone rings all the time from her friends in Russia...just yesterday we had a call at 2:30 am from a friend of hers in Italy(who did no think of the tome zone!).
Our phone bill averages about $10-$15 per month....WDT, the most convenient overseas calling package (as Oscar found out) with once a month billing we can see each phone charge on paper....not to be cheap.
Instead of us traveling back to Russia we plan on my mother in law to come visit us this summer...but not sure it will happen.
I guess my wife is different, she is not the least homesick...for her it is a good rest here from the hectic Moscow lifestyle...nothing to really go back to I guess.
